Boston Butt sale will benefit church playground renovations.

Mt. Calvary Baptist Church is holding a Boston Butt sale to raise funds for new playground equipment. Cost is $30 and pickup will be April 8 from 11 am-1 pm from the church, 134 Abney Road, or at Quick & Easy Lube in Cochran. Sponsored by the New Horizons and Seekers Sunday School classes. Easter events beginning at local churches this weekend.

Though Easter isn't until April 1, some Bleckley churches will be holding Easter events this weekend including an egg hunt at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church on Saturday.  To see a listing of services and other activities, click here.  Email BleckleyProgress@aol.com to have your church's Easter events added.

Gospel group The Diplomats will perform at Empire Pentecostal Holiness Church on March 25 at 10:45 am.  The church is located at 101 Church Street.

Partying indoors for a good cause.

Threatening skies forced First Baptist Church to move their chili cook-off and block party into the Fellowship Hall Saturday night.  It didn't prevent atendees from enjoying the different types of chili made and music from the Skylarks.  Donations collected will be split between the 2018 Uganda Mission team and current missionary living in Uganda Sheila "Buffy" Buff.

Cochran church holding Madden Football Youth Playoff March 24.

Grace Chapel Church of God of Prophecy is hosting a Madden Football playoff for youth ages 13-19 at the church, 269 GA 87 South in Cochran. First game starts at 10 am. Lunch provided. First prize is an XBOX One console, second a $50 Gamestop gift card, third a $20 Gamestop gift card. Friends of the Library Old Book Sale March 24.

Cochran-Bleckley Friends of the Library will hold their annual spring old book sale March 24 from 9 am-5 pm at the old high school library, 115 SE Ninth Street.  A variety of books to choose from, children's, drama, romance, mystery, health, many more.  Prices range from $.25 to $3 with proceeds benefiting the Tessie W. Cochran church celebrating 185th Homecoming March 18.

Limestone Baptist Church will celebrate their 185th Homecoming March 18 at 11 am.  Guest speaker will be former pastor Dr. Mark Shaw.  The church is located at 874 GA 257.
