House of Grace will hold a car wash July 21 from 9 am-1 pm at Citizens Bank of Cochran, 124 East Dykes Street. Proceeds will go toward an upcoming women's retreat.

Vacation Bible School helps with back to school shopping.

Empire Pentecostal Holiness Church held vacation bible school commencement Friday night. The theme was “Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus.” Parents got to view a slideshow of the week and hear a few of the songs learned. Children received a certificate for a Junior Frosty from Wendy’s as well as a bag of school supplies. Supplies were matched to upcoming grades based upon registration information.

Award winning country gospel singer to perform at Cochran church July 15.

Country Gospel singer Allen Frizzell will perform at Cornerstone Church of Cochran July 15 at 6 pm. Frizzell has won several awards including the Agape Outstanding Artist Achievement Award, the Texas International Country Gospel Music Association Male Artist of the Year, Agape Male Vocalist Award, and the 2012 ICGMA Living Legend Award. Admission is free, a love offering will be taken. The church is located at 129 East Beech Street.

Golf tournament will benefit church's wild game supper.

Bethany Bapist Church will hold their first annual golf tournament at Uchee Trail Country Club, 202 Country Club Road in Cochran, July 21.  Cost is $200 per team for the four-person scramble.  Cash prizes for first, second, and third place.  Two for $10 mulligans, closest to the pin, longest drive, and most accurate drive contests.  Proceeds will benefit the mens ministry's wild game supper.  Signup sheet is at Uchee Trail.  Call them (478)934-7891, or the church office (478)934-7151, for more information.

Bleckley Summer Theatre Camp performing Annie July 13-15.

Bleckley Summer Theatre Camp will hold performances of this year's selection "Annie, jr" July 13-15 at House of Grace Church, 133 Jac Arts Road. Showtimes are at 7 pm on Friday, 2 and 7 pm on Saturday, and 3 pm on Sunday. Admission is $5 adults, $3 for children 10 and under.

Fireworks in the country on the Fourth.

For the second straight year, the skies in rural Bleckley County were lit up for the Fourth of July as Warrior's Harvest on GA 112 held a fireworks show.  To see photos, click here.

Cochran church hosting youth event July 9-13.

Strong Tower Church located at 186 East Dykes Street will host "4th Night.  The Battle is over...What Now?" July 9-13 from 6:30-9 pm for middle and high school students.  Several guest speakers including Elder Scott Allen from House of Grace and Bleckley County High School head football coach Von Lassiter.  Register for the event by clicking here.
