Bethany Baptist officially reopening to public May 3.

Bethany Baptist Church will officially open its doors to the public with an in-person service May 3 at 11 am.  Those attending are asked to practice social distancing.  The church is located at 608 GA 26 East in Cochran.

Red Cross tries to keep everyone safe while still filling the need.
 The coronavirus pandemic has increased the Red Cross’s need for clean blood donations. Monday afternoon, they group held a second drive inside the main room of the county extension office. Numerous safety protocols were used to protect those working as well as potential donors. Anyone entering had to have their temperature taken by someone who used fresh gloves and a sterilized thermometer each time. All persons entering were given masks to wear. Those collecting blood also had masks. Tables were set further apart for social distancing purposes. Another Red Cross Blood Drive in Cochran April 20.

The American Red Cross will hold a second blood drive in Cochran at the county extension office, 165 E. The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive in the main from of the Bleckley County Extension Office, 165 N. Cornerstone Church of Cochran to open food bank as a drive through Thursday.

Cornerstone Church of Cochran will open their food bank this Thursday from 11 am to 2 pm while supplies last. It's open to "anyone needing a free box of food and love." Cornerstone Pastor Stephen White said to ensure safety, it will be conducted as a drive through. Volunteers will pray, fill out paperwork, and hand out pre-packed boxes of food to people while they remain in their cars. The church is located at 129 E. Beech Street.

Story Time at the Library March 18.

Story Time at the Tessie W. Norris/Cochran-Bleckley Library will be March 18 at 10 am.  Reader will be Margaret Kilpatrick.  Story Time is presented by the Bleckley County Retired Educators.

"Run for a Dream" will raise funds for scholarships, low-income children with heart defects.

The Landon Padgett Foundation "Run for a Dream" 5K and one-mile fun run will be held March 28 at the BCHS cross country course located at Bleckley Elementary. One-mile starts at 9 am, 5K 9:30. Cost is $25 if postmarked by March 15, $30 after. Those who register after the 15th will have their T-Shirts mailed. Trophies awarded to overall male and female winners in 5K.
