"It's a sock hop" at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church March 16.

Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Cochran will hold a spring fling March 16. Sponsored by Women on Mission, the theme is "It's a sock hop!" Bids for the silent auction start at 5:30 pm, the event begins at 6. Tickets are $15 and include dinner plus live entertainment. Proceeds will benefit mission projects throughout the year. Primary, Elementary schools make learning fun.

Primary, Elementary schools make learning fun.

Both Bleckley Primary and Bleckley Elementary held their literacy nights. Each had a variety of activities to help ensure that extra time spent at school wasn't just learning, it was also fun.  To read more, click here.

Grace Chapel hosting gospel sing March 2.

Grace Chapel Church of God of Prophecy will hold a gospel sing featuring the Bunkleys March 2 at 6 pm. A love offering will be taken, refreshments to follow. The church is located at 269 GA 87 in Cochran.

Bleckley Retired Educators meeting March 6.

The Bleckley County Retired Educators will hold their monthly meeting March 6 at noon in the main room at the county extension office, 165 E. Peacock St. Please contact Kathy Jones, (478)230-7047, by March 3 to confirm your meal.

Middle Georgia State Faculty Art Exhibition opening March 4.

The Middle Georgia State University Faculty Art Exhibition will open March 4 with a reception and gallery talk at 6 pm inside Peacock Gallery located on the first floor of Russell Hall on the Cochran campus. The exhibition will be on display through March 29. Gallery hours are 8 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday, 8 am to noon on Fridays.

Celebrate math, reading, and Dr. Seuss at Bleckley Primary February 28.

Bleckley Primary will hold math and literacy night Februrary 28 from 4-6 pm.  The drop-in event will feature a variety of activities including a book walk and book swap where children can bring one book to exchange for another.  Also a celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday, the first 50 primary school students to attend will receive a Dr. Seuss treat bag.
