Middle Georgia State showing film as part of discussion on First Amendment issues.

Middle Georgia State University Library will sponsor a free showing of "I Am Not Your Negro", September 25 at 6 pm inside Walker Hall auditorium on the Cochran campus. It's part of a film series designed to help generate discussion of First Amendment issues. Post film discussion will be led by Dr. Andre Nicholson, assistant professor of Communication Studies.

Cochran church holding "See You At The Pole" rally September 24.

"See You At The Pole," the annual event where students gather in front of the flagpoles at their schools to pray, will be September 27 at 7 am. To help promote that day, Christ Chapel Cochran will be hosting a "See You At The Pole Rally," September 24 at the Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department from 5-7 pm. Special music by Noah Cleveland. Guest speaker will be Randy Huff, Associate Pastor of Christ Chapel Zebulon.

Local musical talent coming together to help BCHS One Act.

BCHS One Act presents "Hometown Celebrities" September 23 at 7 pm in the high school auditorium.  A concert of local musical talent including Eric Nobles and Jess Darsey, Miranda Bryant, Joey Williams & Family, Amanda Maxwell & Tim Darsey, Matthew White & Band, many more.  Admission $6 per person with proceeds benefitting this year's one act play class.

Grand opening of Bleckley Memorial activity room, gift shop, September 14.

Bleckley Memorial Hospital will hold a grand opening of their new swing bed activity room and gift shop September 14 from 4-6 pm in the main lobby. Art exhibitions to resume at Middle Georgia State September 5.

The first Fall 2017 semester art exhibition for Peacock Gallery inside Russell Hall at Middle Georgia State University in Cochran will open September 5. "Rudy & Carolyn Mendes Art Exhibition" will open that night with a gallery talk by the artists and reception at 6 pm. The work will be on display through October 6. Gallery hours are 8 am-5:30 pm, Monday-Thursday, 8 am-noon on Fridays.

Golf tournament will benefit church youth missions.

The Jimmy Hill Memorial Golf Tournament will be held September 16 at the Woods Golf Course in Cochran.  Cost is $10 per person for the four-person scramble with proceeds benefitting Mt. Bingo night a regular thing at "the Tower."

Bingo night a regular thing at "the Tower."

If you drive through Cochran on the last Saturday night of the month, you'll likely see cars parked in front of Strong Tower Ministries.  That's because the last Saturday is bingo night.  From 6-8 pm, a free bingo game is held, complete with prizes.  Started in March, Pastor Chris Bambrough (who calls out the numbers) said the game was a community event.  Child care is available, children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  Services are held Sundays at 10:30 am, Wednesdays at 7:30 pm.  Lean more about Strong Tower by visiting their website.
