"Pop in" to Cochran church for cookout and movie March 10.

Lakeview Baptist Church invites everyone to a cookout and movie March 10.  Cookout at 6 pm, movie at 7.  The church is located at 203 Lakeview Church Road.

A good day to celebrate Dr. Seuss.

The weather in Cochran Thursday afternoon was rainy and grey, similar to the weather in Dr. Seuss's first book The Cat in the Hat.  That weather made it a good day to be inside, enjoy math and literacy games, and celebrate Dr. Seuss at Bleckley Primary.

Faculty Art Exhibition at Middle Georgia State opening March 5.

The Faculty Art Exhibition, featuring work by Middle Georgia State faculty, will open inside Peacock Gallery March 5. An opening gallery talk and reception will be held at 6 pm that night. The gallery is located on the first floor of Russell Hall on the Cochran campus. The exhibition will be open through March 30. Gallery hours are 8 am-5:30 pm Monday through Thursday, 8 am to noon on Fridays.

Percentage Day at Cochran DQ will benefit cheerleaders selected for all star basketball game.

Cochran Dairy Queen will hold a percentage day for the BCHS cheerleaders March 4.  A portion of all sales will go toward Junior and Senior basketball cheerleaders selected to participate at the GACA Junior-Senior All Star Game March 24 in Dalton.

Bikers returning to the parking lot behind the Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce Saturday, , as well as those picking up spaghetti plates sold by Cochran Fire and Rescue, also enjoyed a free concert by the Southbound Nomads.  The music got some out of their seats to dance.

Celebrate math, literacy, and Dr. Seuss at Bleckley Primary March 1.

Bleckley Primary  will hold math and literacy night March 1.  The drop-in event is from 4-6 pm.  Shop at the book fair, bring books to trade at the book swap, win books at the book walk.  It'll also be a celebration of Dr. Seuss including giving out Dr. Seuss treat bags to the first 50 BCPS students who attend.

Local church hosting re-enactment of medieval mass February 28.

Trinity Episcopal Church will host The Medieval Mass: A Historical Reconstruction February 28 from 6-7:15 pm.  A re-enactment of Sunday morning mass in a medieval village, it will feature music, images, vestments, and a sermon.  Question and answer session to follow.   The church is located at 110 Fifth Street in Cochran.
