Cochran Masonic Lodge Fish Fry April 7.

Cochran Masonic Lodge #217 F&AM will hold a fish fry April 7 from 4-7 pm. Plates are $8 and include catfish fillets, fries, hush puppies, and cole slaw. Dine in at the lodge, 217 Masonic Drive, or carry out. Proceeds benefit masonic charities. Call (478)697-4187 to purchase tickets.

A good day at the book sale.

Cochran-Bleckley Friends of the Library held their annual spring old book sale benefiting the Tessie W. Norris Library Saturday.  People came to shop, browse, and in some cases read, a variety of old books ranging from $.25 to $3.  Organizers described the turnout as steady and appreciate everyone who stopped by.

Bake sale will benefit Royal Singers trip to music competition.

The BCHS Royal Singers will hold a bake sale March 30 from 8:30 am-2 pm in the Pre-K parking lot, 242 East Dykes Street. Proceeds will benefit their upcoming trip to the Southern Stars Music Festival competition in May.

Boston Butt sale will benefit church playground renovations.

Mt. Calvary Baptist Church is holding a Boston Butt sale to raise funds for new playground equipment. Cost is $30 and pickup will be April 8 from 11 am-1 pm from the church, 134 Abney Road, or at Quick & Easy Lube in Cochran. Sponsored by the New Horizons and Seekers Sunday School classes. Easter events beginning at local churches this weekend.

Though Easter isn't until April 1, some Bleckley churches will be holding Easter events this weekend including an egg hunt at Mt. Gospel group The Diplomats will perform at Empire Pentecostal Holiness Church on March 25 at 10:45 am.  The church is located at 101 Church Street.

Partying indoors for a good cause.

Threatening skies forced First Baptist Church to move their chili cook-off and block party into the Fellowship Hall Saturday night.  It didn't prevent atendees from enjoying the different types of chili made and music from the Skylarks.  Donations collected will be split between the 2018 Uganda Mission team and current missionary living in Uganda Sheila "Buffy" Buff.
