Bleckley Primary, BCES, holding literacy night events February 27.

Both Bleckley Primary and Bleckley Elementary will hold literacy night events February 27.  Bleckley Primary's literacy night will also be a celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday.  It's a drop-in event, 4-6 pm.  Activities include various literacy games, book walk, and book swap (bring a book from home to exchange for another.)  Students will also be able to shop at the book fair.

 

Bleckley Elementary is encouraging students to "solve the mystery" at their literacy night, 5:30-7 pm.  It will also include literacy games and an opportunity to shop at the book fair.  Students who bring a gently used book to donate to the school's summer reading program will be given an extra chance at door prizes that will be given away.

Bleckley PTO Father-Daughter Dance tickets on sale.

Tickets for this year's Bleckley PTO Father-Daughter dance, "Light Up The Night: Daddy-Daughter Glow Dance, are on sale in the main offices of Bleckley Pre-K, Bleckley Primary, and Bleckley Elementary. Tickets are $25 per couple, $10 for each additional child. This year's dance will be February 29 from 6-8 pm at BCHS. Setup will be February 28 from 6-9 pm. A signup sheet for parents wishing to volunteer will also be in all three school offices.

Turner Chapel AME Church hosting census information event February 23.

Steven Gallaway from Fair Count will hold an information and community involvement session regarding the 2020 U.S. Census February 23 at 1:15 pm inside the Fellowship Hall at Turner Chapel AME Church. The church is located at 163 N. Seventh Street in Cochran.

Cochran Masonic Lodge pancake breakfast February 22.

Cochran Masonic Lodge 217 F&AM will hold a pancake brekfast February 22 from 7-10 am at the lodge, 217 Masonic Drive.  Cost is $5 for all you can eat pancakes, sausage, coffee, tea, and orange juice.  Uniformed law enforcement officers and children eat free.  All proceeds benefit the Joe Lassiter Secret Santa Fund.

BCHS hosting region literary competition February 22.

Bleckley County High School will host Region 3-AA Literary competition February 22 at 9 am. All events are free and open to the public. No photography or videography allowed during events.

Story Time at the Library February 19.

Story Time at the Tessie W. Norris/Cochran-Bleckley Library will be February 19 at 10 am with reader Barbra Long.  Story Time is presented by the Bleckley County Retired Educators.

Warm weather WinterFest fun.

The weather outside felt more like spring than winter. Still, it didn't deter hundreds from visiting Bleckley Elementary for their annual WinterFest carnival, rescheduled from February 6. Click here to view photos.
