Cochran Women's Club to host speaker on Human Trafficking.

Bleckley County High Shool alumni Sam Haupt will speak at an event sponsored by the Cochran Women's Club May 9 at 3:30 pm.  It will be held at the Community House, 193 Third St.  Haupt, Executive Director of Sacred Roots Farm in Gainesville, will present a program entitled "Human Trafficking Doex Exist Here."  According to their their website, Sacred Roots provides a home on a working, sustainable farm to trafficked and exploited women and children.

Cochran church celebrating Homecoming May 7.

Salem Baptist Church, located 107 Emergency Rd 450R, will celebrate Homecoming during their 11 am service May 7.  Former pastor Billy Todd will be guest speaker.  Lunch to follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Good turnout for Spring Buddy Ball.

The eighth annual Spring Buddy Ball game was held in a new location, fields at Middle Georgia State University in Cochran.  Buddies came from the Knights athletic department.  But it didn't seem to matter to about 80 special needs children who got their names announced just like baseball players did, and ran the bases, some with the help of their buddies.  After the medal presentation and group pictures, they enjoyed hamburgers and hot dogs.

Fall Buddy Ball will be October 7 and returns to the Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department.

May 6 yard will benefit new church's building fund.

Cornerstone Church of Cochran will hold a yard sale May 6 from 8 am-1 pm at their current location, 106 W Dykes St.  It will feature multi-family items as well as those from two estates.  Hot dogs, hamburgers, and baked goods also available for purchase.  Proceeds will go toward the church's new building fund.

Jazz event at Cochran-Bleckley Arts Alliance tonight.

The Cochran-Bleckley Arts Alliance and Middle Georgia State University will host a Jazz music event tonight at the Arts Alliance Building, 113 E. Dykes St.  Doors open at 7:30 pm, music starts at 8.  Admission free, coffee bar available.  Park behind Chamber of Commerce on Third St.

Bleckley Fire Department Community Cookout April 29.

The Bleckley County Fire Department will hold a community cookout at all station loctions (Limestone, Airport, Salem, Cary, Porter) Saturday from 11 am-2 pm.  Free hot dogs and chips will be given away and trucks will be on display for children.  For more information contact Fire Chief Matt Kelly  (478)304-2313, Training Officer Scott Jackson (478)609-1780, or Operations Officer Lynn Hancock (478)308-1445.

BCHS Royal Singers Spring Concert April 30.

The Bleckley County High School Royal Singers will hold their Spring Concert April 30 at 3 pm in the high school auditorium.  Besides the choir show, it will also include performances by JonHolland Jones (third at state literary, boys solo), as well as the girls trio and boys quartet (both state runner up.)  Admission $5 adults, $3 students.
