Cochran community blood drive August 13.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive in the county extension office main building August 13 from 2-7 pm.  To schedule an appointment onine, go to redcrossblood.org and use the sponsor code "Cochran."  The Extension Office is located at 165 Peacock Street.

Celebrate Recovery at Cornerstone Church of Cochran welcomed Eddie B. for a special concert Saturday night. Eddie, founder of Conviction for Christ ministries, shared his story of how he was able to break away from a life of gangs, drug addiction, and prison, through faith. He, along with wife Sandi, founded Conviction for Christ ministries, a prison ministry with 39 missionaries, reach out to prisons across America. An accomplished songwriter, Eddie shared his testimony and music with the audience. Celebrate Recovery, a ministry designed to help people overcome their "hurts, hangups, and habits," meets at Cornerstone Mondays at 7 pm. The church is located at 129 East Beech Street.

Back to School Prayer Walk August 5.

The Back to School Prayer Walk for Bleckley County will be August 5 at 6 pm in the BCMS gym.  Following a short prayer service, the assembly will be dismissed to all schools so they can walk the halls and pray.  Sponsored by the Bleckley Christian Learning Center.

Conviction for Christ Ministries Eddie B coming to Celebrate Recovery Cochran.

Eddie B, founder of Conviction for Christ Ministry, will be in concert at Celebrate Recovery Cochran August 4 at 7 pm. Celebrate Recovery Cochran is a ministry of Cornerstone Church of Cochran, the church is located at 129 East Beech Street.

BCHS basketball teams, cheerleaders holding car wash August 4.

The Bleckley County High School basketball teams and cheerleaders will hold a car wash to raise funds for new uniforms August 4 from 8 am-noon.  It'll take place at the Citizens Bank of Cochran, 124 East Dykes Street.  Cost is donation.

Backpack giveaway helps children, schools, with supplies.

First Baptist Church held their fifth annual backpack giveaway Saturday at the Hangar. Families registered, then were assisted by church members in getting backpacks and other supplies needed for the school year. Water and cookies were also available during the wait. According to volunteers, 250 supplies for backpacks were given away. Remaining supplies will be given to the schools for extra resources

Bleckley NAACP hosting backpack giveaway, back to school event, August 4.

The Bleckley NAACP will hold a backpack giveaway and back to school bash at the Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department, 250 West Dykes Street, August 4.  Backpaacks will be given away from 5-6 pm, and is open to children in grades 1-12.  The back to school bash is from 6-9:30 pm, and is for upcoming fifth through twelfth graders.  Activities include free food, music, face painting, giant slide, and a free throw shooting contest.
