Book signing at Cochran Library October 24.

Melanie Dempsey, author of "To Catch the Sun," will hold a book signing October 24 inside the conference room at the Tessie W Norris/Cochran-Bleckley Library.   It's sponsored by Cochran-Bleckley Friends of the Library and the Cochran Women's Club.

Literacy Night, Fall Festival, at Bleckley Primary October 21.

Bleckley Primary will hold Literacy Night October 21 from 4-6 pm.   Book Fair will be open.  Win books at the Book Walk, swap old book at the Book Swap.  Lieracy games, parents can learn reading secrets from teachers.  First 50 students attending get a prize.  Ten $10 Book Fair gift certificates for students will be drawn.   Games, giant slides, bounce house at the old baseball field behind the school from 5:30-7:30 pm.  Free showings of It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown at 6:45 and 7:30 pm.  Purchase tickets for games and activities, concessions available.

Friends of the Library Old Book Sale October 21.

Cochran-Bleckley Friends of the Library will hold an old book sale September 21 from 9 am-5 pm at the old BCHS Library, 195 SE Ninth St.  Wide selection of books including, romance, mystery, reference, children's, biography, much more.  Prices range $.25 to $3.  Proceeds benefit the Tessie W Norris/Cochran-Bleckley Library.  For more information, visit Friends of the Library on Facebook.

Cochran-Bleckley CountryFest October 21.

The Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce presents CountryFest October 21. Festival from 10 am-5 pm in downtown Cochran featuring arts and crafts, food vendors, entertainment, and a kid's pit stop sponsored by local churches. Street Dance from 5-9 pm with the Southbound Nomads at 5 followed by the MidLife Chryslers from 6-9 pm. Purchase tickets now for a 50/50 raffle, $1 each, drawing at 6 pm that night. Return to the Jungle of Nool with BCHS One Act October 17.

Bleckley County High School One Act Play will hold community performances of this year’s selection, Seussical, October 17 and 20.  It will be the third time BCHS has done the play for their competition piece, winning region the previous two times.  Start times are 7:30 pm that Tuesday, 7 pm on Friday.  Admission is $5 adults, $3 students.

Get some "Medicine for the Soul" from Promise of Hope October 20.

Promise of Hope will hold their annual "Men's Night of Blessing" benefitting the men's campus in Cochran October 21 inside the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church in Cochran.  This year's theme is "Medicine for the Soul."  Doors open at 4:30 pm for viewing of live auction items.  Dinner at 6.  Guest entertainment will be Christian comedian Aaron Wilburn.  Tickets are $25 each, $30 after October 13.  Call (478)934-0774, or (478)676-4673 for more information.

Annual car show will collect toys for children in Bleckley County.

Wheel'N For Tots  car show will be held October 21 in the parking lot of Bleckley County High School October 21.  Registration at 9 am, show from 11 am-3 pm.  Entry fee is one new, unwrapped toy for each vehicle entered.  Admission free for spectators.  Events include dyno competition, rod and piston trophies, crowd favorite.  Door prizes, raffle items during the day.  Contact Chris Arnold for more information, (478)308-9257,  mapleredta@gmail.com
