Church opening food bank to local residents February 1.

Almost time for baseball season in Cochran.
The Dugout Club hosted a meet the players fellowship for this year's Royals baseball team Tuesday night. Players were introduced and parents heard from head coach Brad Davis on things like their goals as a coaching staff as well as importance of fundraising to support the program. The team has a scrimmage at Veterans High School February 7. It starts at 6 pm.

Cornhole tournament will benefit youth trip to ministry event.

House of Grace church, located at 133 Jac Arts Road in Cochran, will hold a cornhole tournament Feburary 2 at 10 am.  Cost is $20 per team.  Tournament will be double elimination (first to 21.)  Winning team will receive $100.  Proceeds will benefit the Impact Student Ministry trip to Belive conference in March.  Register online by clicking here.

City of Cochran holding writing contest as part of 150th birthday celebration.

The City of Cochran will celebrate its 150th anniversary March 17-23.  As part of the celebration, a writing contest is being held for students in grades K-12.  To read more, click here.

JJ Weeks Band at House of Grace January 17.

The JJ Weeks Band will hold a free concert at House of Grace Church January 17 at 7 pm.  House of Grace is located at 133 Jac Arts Road.

Cochran Martin Luther King Day parade January 21.

The Martin Luther King Day Parade, sponsored by Bleckley NAACP, will be January 21 at 1 pm. Lineup is at 11:30 am at Middle Georgia State University in the Gateway Parking Lot. Second public hearing on urban redevelopment plan January 17.

The City of Cochran will host another public hearing regarding the current urban redevelopment plan January 17 at the Community House, 192 South Third Street., at 5 pm. Downtown businesses owners are encouraged to attend. Topics will include downtown parking, business vacancies, façade improvements, and crosswalks. Representatives from the Heart of Georgia Altamaha Regional Commission, who are assisting the city with the plan, will be in attendance. Public comment will be received on downtown issues that could benefit from reinvestment.
