Hours for trick or treating within the city of Cochran.

Hours for trick or treating within the city of Cochran will be October 31 from 5:30-8:30 pm.  A post on the Cochran Police department Facebook page last week announcing the hours asks people not to visit residences within the city after 8:30 pm.

BCHS One Act performing at region October 24.

BCHS One Act performing at region October 24.

A sellout crowd jammed the Bleckley County High School auditorium Friday night for the second of two performances of Seussical.  If you missed either, or want to see the show again, the Region 3-AA One Act Play championship will be held October 24 at Washington County High School.  BCHS performs at 4:15 pm.  Note, per GHSA rules, photography and videography are prohibitted during all performances.

Anti-bullying event coming to BCMS.

Willie Raines, leader of The Power Team, and motivational speaker, will bring his "Only You Can Prevent Bullying" event to the Bleckley County Middle School gym October 24 at 6:30 pm.  Parents of all Bleckley students are invited to attend.  Topics to be discussed include anti-bullying, drug and alchohol awareness, academic excellence, and character building.  Light refreshments will follow.

Over $9,000 raised to help "bust" local man's cancer.

Over $9,000 raised to help "bust" local man's cancer.

Saturday's "Busting Cancer for Brian" Smith clay shoot raised over $9,000 that will go toward medical and travel expenses for Smith in his battle with cancer.  The Smith family thanks the Bleckley County community for their outpouring of love and support.

Literacy Night, Fall Festival, at Bleckley Primary October 21.

Bleckley Primary will hold Literacy Night October 21 from 4-6 pm.   Book Fair will be open.  Win books at the Book Walk, swap old book at the Book Swap.  Lieracy games, parents can learn reading secrets from teachers.  First 50 students attending get a prize.  Ten $10 Book Fair gift certificates for students will be drawn.   Games, giant slides, bounce house at the old baseball field behind the school from 5:30-7:30 pm.  Free showings of It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown at 6:45 and 7:30 pm.  Purchase tickets for games and activities, concessions available.
