Good Start But Rough Finish For BCHS Softball in Cordele Tournament | HS Sports
This weekend, the Lady Royals softball team played in the Watermelon Classic hosted by Crisp County High School. Friday, Taylor Little's seventh inning home run broke a 2-2 tie to give BC a 3-2 win over Appling County. Bleckley ended the night with a 5-0 win against Turner County that was delayed several times and ultimately called due to lightning.
The team did not get home until after 2 a.m. but returned early Saturday morning. They fell to to Worth County 4-0 in the opener and were held to three hits in a 7-0 loss to Tift County. Playing the host Lady Cougars for third in the blue division, BCHS trailed 11-3 going to the bottom of the seventh.
Scoring five times, there were runners at first and third with one out. A line out then doubling off the runner at first ended an 11-8 loss. The defense committed seven errors. Offensively, Fellisia Young was 3 for 4 with 1 RBI. Leslie Holland went 2 for 3. Chelsea Brady and Faith Harris each had 1 RBI and went 2 for 4. Allie Keel went 2 for 4.
Region 4-AA play resumes Tuesday at Crawford County. Game time is 5 p.m.
