Another Rough Tournament Finish For Lady Royals Softball | HS Sports
Yogi Berra might call it "Deja Vu al over again." It was a script that played out twice already for the BCHS softball team in invitational tournaments. Win both games Friday, lose Saturday. Friday night, Bleckley won both games at the Jeff Davis Mid Season Classic in Hazlehurst, 12-4 over Wheeler County and 14-4 over Echols County.
Saturday, BCHS trailed 4-2 versus Telfair County. Though rallying to tie things at five, they lost 7-6. Five errors in the first two innings factored into 11 runs given up versus Bacon County. Though the defense would improve, the Lady Royals lost 11-0. Hannah Coulter had half of the teams hits, going 2 for 2.
Trailing 2-0 in the fifth inning against Treutlen, Faith Harris' two run double tied the score. Down 3-2 in the seventh, Coulter's two out single capped a rally that gave BC a 4-3 lead. The Lady Vikings tied the score in their half.
Lauren Powell scored after an error on Taylor Dykes bunt hit in the eighth to make it 5-4. But Treutlen scored twice to win 6-5. Dykes was 2 for 4. Harris finished 2 for 4 with 2 RBI. Fellisia Young went 3 for 3.
Bleckley hosts Lamar County Tuesday at 5 p.m.
