Big Plays Propel Royals To Win At Dodge County | HS Sports
Bleckley returned to the field Friday night, looking to rebound from a poor peformance two weeks ago at West Laurens. All the starters were there as the Royals renewed their longtime rivalry with Dodge County.
Down 7-0 as the half wound down, Jeremy Marshall pulled in a tipped ball and dashed 58 yards to tie the score. Tavon Ross through the ball up as time expired in the half. Austin Simmons pulled in another tipped ball for a 41-yard touchdown reception. The PAT missed but BC led 13-7 at halftime.
With 2:42 left in the third, Marshall went 54 yards down the sidelines to make it 20-7. Mario McClendon picked off an Indian pass 19 seconds later and went 39 yards to make it 27-7. He had another interception on the Indians next drive and went 42 yards to the Dodge ten.
Marshall scored with 29 seconds left. Scoring was capped on Dodge's 26-yard touchdown reception by Jamarius Black with 8:19 left in the game. Bleckley made it four straight in the series, and two straight in Eastman, 34-13.
Tavon went 7 of 12 passing for 162 with one score and one interception. Marshall had eight carries for 93 yards.
