Lady Royals Outlast Lamar County To Advance In Softball Playoffs | HS Sports
It took sixteen innings. Bleckley stranded 22 runs in two games, but they found a way to win a pair of extra inning games Monday versus Lamar County to advance in the 4-AA softball playoffs Monday in Cochran.
Game one saw Lamar go ahead 5-4 with four runs in the fourth inning. Leslie Holland's sixth inning single tied the score. The Lady Trojans went ahead 6-5 in the eighth. Taylor Little tied the game with a triple that scored Fellisia Young. Little came home on Hannah Coulter's sac fly in a 7-6 win.
Little was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. Coulter went 1 for 2. Taylor Dykes went 2 for 4 with a two-run single.
Lamar was home team in game two and built a 3-0 lead after three innings. BC got on the board with an unearned run in the fourth but couldn't capitalize on having runners at second and third with no outs in the fifth. Three in the sixth gave BCHS their first lead but they missed on having the bases loaded in the seventh.
Lamar tied things in the home half. After taking the lead on an error in the eighth, two runs scored on Holland's groundout when Little took advantage of an overthrow. BCHS held LC scorless in the home half as they advanced to the semifinals 7-4.
Little was 3 for 5 with a double and 1 RBI. Coulter went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Allison Collins was 1 for 2. Semifinal games will be Thursday at second seed Crawford County. Game one starts at 4 pm with game two following 30 minutes later.
