Lady Royals Split Playoff Games With Jeff Davis | HS Sports
It'd been three years since Bleckley and Jeff Davis squared off in the state softball playoffs. That year, the Lady Jackets ended BC's season in the second round.
Wednesday, the two teams squared off in Hazlehurst to begin this year's playoffs.
Taylor Little's fifth inning double with two outs broke a scorless tie in game one. Though Jeff Davis would threaten in both the sixth and seventh innings by getting two on with one out,. a Lady Royal defense that gave up just one error all game worked out both jams to preserve a 1-0 win. Taylor Little went 2 for 4.
Leading 1-0 in game two thanks to a first inning RBI hit by Dykes, the Lady Jackets scored six runs in the third. Little led off the home half with a double. Hannah Coulter singled. Both were left stranded. Despite a pair of runs in the fifth, BCHS would not be able to rally and lost 7-3. The team committed six errors.
Little finished 3 for 4 with a double and triple. Coulter and Dykes were both 2 for 4 with an RBI. Leslie Holland went 2 for 4. Game three is Thursday in Hazlehurst at 6 pm.
