Royals Survive Mistakes To Beat Taylor County | HS Sports
With Lamar County looming next week, BCHS had to avoid overlooking Taylor County Friday nigth. Despite a season worst in turnovers, the Royals found a way to win.
Tavon Ross's 15-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Wynne with 1:45 left in the half made it 13-6. The PAT missed. BC stopped the Vikings deep inside Royal territory as the half ended.
Tije'a Randall went 65 yards for a score just 20 seconds into the third quater. Ross's 25 yard touchdown run with 6:37 left made it 27-6. The Vikings made it 27-12 on a 25-yrd touchdown pass with five minutes left. A two-point conversion failed.
Randall rumbled 30 yards on Bleckley's next drive to set up Antavias Robertson. He went in from three yards out. BCHS had what looked to be a commanding 34-12 with under three minutes left in the third.
But the Vikings would return a fumble eight yards for a touchdown with 1:14 remaining. Another two-point conversion failed. In the fourth, the Vikings got a 60-yard punt return. After Bleckley stopped them on fourth and goal, they fumbled on their own 15. A one-yard touchdown run by TC with 5:36 left cut the lead to ten.
Neither team threatened again offensively as BCHS held on 34-24 despite a season high four turnovers. Randall had a career night, 166 yards on 11 carries, 162 in the second half. Ross was an efficent 5 of 8 for 74 yards passing.
Robertson had 59 yards on 12 carries. The Royals host Lamar County October 18 at 7:30 pm.
