Weather affects events involving BCHS teams

Rain and thunderstorms adversely affected a pair of events involving Bleckley County High School Sports teams. Friday's Meet the Players football event and scrimmage set for Royal Stadium was cancelled due to rain and Thunderstorms.  Bleckley will host a scrimmage versus Irwin County August 15 at 7:30 pm.

The Lady Royals traveled to Nahunta Friday for "Softball in the Swamp" hosted by Brantley County High School.  BC defeated Long County 16-7 but saw their contest versus Charlton County suspended due to weather.  The team had to be back at the field at 9 am Saturdaymorning to complete it.  Players and coaches said they did not arrive at their hotel until 2 am.

BC lost 7-6.  After defeating Glynn Academy 3-1 and enjoying a game break, another storm came in.  After waiting nearly an hour and a half, play resumed.  But a third storm would cancel remaining games.  Bleckley opens their home regular season August 14 at 5 p.m. versus West Laurens.
