Bleckley Prevails in Weather-Shortened Scrimmage

Hundreds of Bleckley football fans made the trek down US 129 to Ocilla Friday evening to watch the Tracy White era begin in a scrimmage versus Irwin County.  A Ken Hughes touchdown run after an Indian fumble and subsequent safety after a punt sailed into the end zone made it 9-0 early.

The Indians capitalized on three off sides penalites and a personal foul as they got within 9-7 with 3:26 remaining.  Irwin took the lead on a second touchdown run with 8:08 left in the second.  The two-point conversion made it 15-9.  A good retur by Farrow helped set up the offense on Bleckley's next possession.  He ran it in with less than six minutes left to make it 16-15.

Teams returned to the field to prepare for the second half but a lightning strike sent them away.  The game would eventually be called.  Bleckley's starters prevailed in the first half 16-15.  Second string players were set to play the second half.  BCHS opens the regular season August 31 at Hawkinsville.  Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
