After having to play scrimmages the past few seasons due to region schedules, Bleckley and Hawkinsville were able to renew a traditon going back years.  Opening the season against each other.  Fans from Cochran packed the visitor's side of Bobby Gentry Stadium Friday to watch the Tracy White era begin.

Ken Hughes' 15-yard run made it 7-0 with 8:46 left.  Set up by Savon Walters' 25-yard run, Derrick Farrow scored from thee yards out to make it 14-0 with 4:35 left.  Tavon Ross had a one-yard run with 8:58 left in the half to make it 21-0.  Jacob Echols' 36-yard field goal with 4:46 remaining made it 24-0.

Scoring was capped in the third on Farrow's second touchdown, a 23-yard run with 9:10 left in the third.  Bleckley went on to win 31-0.  Hawkinsville sophomore running back Tyrone Wright had 72 of the Red Devils' 76 yards. 

For Bleckley, Farrow finished with 85 yards on six carries.  Hughes had 67 yards on nine carries as well as a 28-yard reception.  Ross had 82 total yards, 57 passing on five completions.  He ran nine times for 25 yards.  One negative stat for BCHS was nine penalties for 85 yards.

Former BC strength coach Stacy Nobles will bring his West Laurens Raiders to Cochran for the Royals home opener September 7.  Kickoff is 7:30 pm.
