Lady Royals Fall in Region Title Game | HS Sports

If one were to sum up Bleckley's current softball success, it would be "getting hot at the right time."  They'd won 10 of 12 going into Thursday's Region 4-AA title game versus Monticello after starting the year 4-11.  Down 3-1 in the third, Leslie Holland appeared to make it a one-run game with a sac fly.  However, the RBI was erased when it was ruled the runner left early.

The Lady Canes built a 7-1 lead after four and a half innings.  BCHS missed scoring opportunities in four of the first five innings.  They would strand ten in a 7-3 loss.  Emmie Meadows and Joanna Knight both went 2 for 4.  Bleckley, the second seed, will host Thomasville, third seed from 1-AA, in the first round of state.  Game times are 4 and 6 pm on October 10.
