Royals Fall to Greater Atlanta Christian in AA Title Game | HS Sports
After all the comebacks, the close games, it came down to this. One game, one moment to decide who was the best in Class AA basketball. Bleckley, playing in front of thousands of purple and gold fans who'd made the short trip to the Macon Centreplex, took on perenial basketball power Greater Atlanta Christian.
Mario Beck's three in the final minute of the second capped a Bleckley comeback from down ten points in the first quarter to tie the score at 22. After a pair of Spartan free throws, the Royals had a chance to tie again with 20 seconds left. They would turn the ball over and trail 24-22 at halftime.
Rydealous Taylor came alive in the third, hitting four three-point shots. His fourth made it 40-37 with a little over three minutes left. Beck went out with his third foul at 2:37. GAC scored the final seven points of the third to lead by four.
A 12-2 Spartan run to begin the fourth would prove to be the difference. BCHS lost for the first time when playing on a vistors or neutral court 69-52. Taylor scored 20. Beck had 12. Bleckley finishes the year 28-4, AA runners up. Congratulations on a great season.
