Bleckley Gets Dramatic Walk Off Win Versus Putnam County | HS Sports
It was Putnam County who gave the Royals their only region loss. Friday, the War Eagles looked to do it again. Though Bleckley led through four innings on Bryant Trice's solo home run, Putnam had scored twice in the fifth to go ahead 2-1.
In the bottom of the seventh, Austin Simmons singled with one out and went to third on Frankie Lee Mullis' double. Simmons scored the game tying run when the Putnam catcher dropped a third strike to Tavon Ross and the ball rolled away.
Still tied at two in the ninth, Cal Young reached on an error with two outs. Caleb Slaughter followed and connected on a two-run home run to give BCHS a 4-2 win. Slaughter finished 3 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI. Mullis went 2 for 4.
Austin Willliams struck out nine in seven and a third innings pitched. Simmons went two and two third innings, giving up one hit for his first win. Bleckley hosts Coffee High School Monday at 5:30 p.m.
