Royals shut out Toombs behind gem from Little.

Brody Little went six innings, striking out seven and giving up just two hits as BCHS won 3-0 at Toombs County Friday afternoon. He was also 2 for 4 with a triple. Steven Knighton went 2 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI. Peyton Wimberly was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI. Bleckley plays Monday at Fitzgerald. JV play at 4 pm with varsity to follow.

Weather disrupts BCHS spring sporting events.

Though spring sports have started at Bleckley County High School, no one has gotten to play due to this week's rains.  Soccer saw their only match of the week at GMC Tuesday night cancelled due to wet field conditions.  They play at Crisp County February 25.

 

Tennis had matches home matches against Northeast  on Tuesday and Stratforc Academy postponed.  The Stratford match will be made up March 12.  The team's next match will be February 25 at home against Washington County.

 

Royals baseball's hme opener today against River Ridge was postponed.  Their next game is February 25 at West Laurens.

BCHS weekend sports results.

BCHS baseball was in Brunswick this weekend for "Baseball at the Beach."  The Royals defeated Gainesville 4-1 Friday and defeated Sandy Creek 5-1 this morning.  The Royals home opener is February 20 at 5:45 pm against River Ridge.

 

Royals basketball trailed by just four points going to the fourth quarter of their opening round playoff game at Thomasville despite being without starting guard Ty Williams.  But they eventually fell 57-47.

Royals baseball loses in extras at Jeff Davis.

In a rematch of last year's GHSA semifinal, BCHS lost their season opener at Jeff Davis 8-7 in ten innings. The Royals had two on with one out in the top of the tenth but couldn't score. The Yellow Jackets scored the game-winning run on a two-out hit as BC lost 8-7. Carson Waters went 5 for 6 with 1 RBI. Steven Knighton went 2 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI. The Royals committed four errors, stranded 11 runners, in the loss. Bleckley travels to Brunswick this weekend for "Baseball at the Beach." They play Gainesville February 14 at 4 pm.

Update on postponed BCHS sporting events.

The February 6 high school tennis matches at Veterans High School won't be made up.  Instead, BCHS added a home match against Taylor County March 25 at 4 pm.  BCHS will make up the February 7 soccer matches against West Laurens March 4 at 5 pm in Cochran.

BCHS boys to be fourth seed in basketball playoffs.

Though the Royals clinched a playoff berth for the first time since 2017 Tuesday night, they lost both Friday's region semifianl versus Dublin Friday night and consolation game against Northeast Saturday afternoon.

Four Royals move on to next level of football career.

It was a historic afternoon in the BCHS auditorium as four Royals football players signed their letters of intent. The ceremony featuring Bryce Bailey (Middle Tennessee State), Marcus Brown (University of West Georgia), Willie Chambers (Reinhart University), and Arkenzio Hayes (Columbus State University) was the first time four football players had ever signed on the same day. With Hugh Cairney signing in the fall, it brought the total number of players signed to five, a first in BCHS history.
