BCHS Baseball Team Loses Third Straight

Bleckley committed a season-high seven errors, issued 11 walks, and also left seven runners on base in a 15-3 loss to Jeff Davis at home Monday. 

Six of those runners came in consecutive innings in which the Royals had two on, including a two on, no outs opportunity in the third when the score was still 6-3. 

Kace Kirkpatrick was 2 for 2.  Ben Harris went 2 for 3.  BCHS returns to subregion play at home Tuesday versus Dublin. 

JV play at 4 pm with varsity to follow.

Dodge JROTC Drill Team Places at State

The Dodge County HS JROTC Drill Team recently competed in the 2012 Georgia Army JROTC State Drill Team Championships at Fort Gordon, GA.

Competing against 86 schools from across the state, all 24 cadets performed exceptionally well during the all day competition. Bringing home a state title for the first time in several years for Dodge County, the Female Armed Squad placed first. Commanded by senior cadet Rashida Roberson, the squad out-scored the second place team by 10 points to win the championship trophy. Members of the championship squad included Breunka Jackson, Tamara Tharpe, Ashlea Jackson, Brandy Dupree, Tonja Green, and Tyshawnda Facison.

Baseball: The Indians defeated Bleckley County March 20 with a score of 8 to 4. Jeff Davis defeated Dodge 1-9 on March 22. DCHS faces Treutlen on March 26, East Laurens on March 27, Dublin on March 230, Bleckley County on April 3, Northside, Warner Robins on April 4, East Laurens on April 10, Dublin on April 13, Schley County on April 16, Bleckley County on April 17 and Crisp County on April 19.

Soccer:(Girls) Lost to Bleckley County 0-4, Screven County 0 to 4 and they will play Southeast Bulloch on March 30 and Screven County on April 20.

Bleckley Soccer Sweeps Home Matches from Jefferson County

Ashley Burton scored both Lady Royal goals, at 18:57 of the first and 28:57 of the second, in a 2-0 victory.  Thomas Lopez scored at 38:09 of the first for the Royals.  Blake Lucas' penalty kick at 38:27 of the second broke a 1-1 tie.

Region 3-AA Special Teams Player of the Year Signs with UMass

Bleckley kicker Blake Lucas signed a letter of intent with the University Of Massachusetts Friday.  Lucas was named Region 3-AA Special Teams Player Of The Year.  He completed 27 of 27 PAT's and was 7 of 9 on field goals under 45 yards with a 47-yard career long. 

He averaged 67 yards per kickoff.  For his career, Lucas was 83 of 84 on PAT's, 72 percent on field goals, and scored 140 points.

BCHS Soccer Teams Swept at Home by Dublin

Jacob Waters goal at 16:10 of the second half tied the score at 1 versus Dublin.  It would remain tied through the end of regulation and two five-minute overtime periods.  In penalty kicks, Waters, Thomas Lopez, and Marcus Mack all scored.  The Irish also connected on three of five pk's.  That sent the game into sudden death penalty kicks.  Bleckley missed their first, Dublin connected, as the Royals lost 5-4.

The Bleckley Board of Eduaction approved the hiring of two football coaches at their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday night.  Ray Hardin comes to Cochran from West Laurens where he was on the defensive staff.  Brad Harber coached tight ends and tackles at Dublin.
