Royals Clinch Playoff Berth With Win at Dodge

Royals Clinch Playoff Berth With Win at Dodge

Over the past three weeks, Bleckley's offense had been carrying the day.  They'd scored 30 or more points in each of those games.  However, a nasty Dodge defense combined with multiple injuries (Zack Moe was limited due to a deep thigh bruise, Frankie Mullis was recovering from a hip pointer, Mario McClendon was out with a sprained ankle, Tavon Ross played with an injured thumb) made for a defensive, turnover-filled first half.  BCHS had four first-half turnovers, Dodge three.

If one could select a song for BCHS Cross Country, it might be DJ Khalid's "All I do is win."

The Runnin' Royals girls and boys cross country teams  have been a top program for the better part of a decade under head coach Shelly Cranford.

Tuesday, that success continued at the Region 3-AA Cross Country Championships held at Bleckley Elementary School.

BC's girls won their ninth straight region title, the boys won their seventh straight.  Chase McCulley was boys region champion.  Madison Powell was top finisher for the girls.

Bleckley will travel to Carrolton for the AA state meet November 5.

Bleckley Survives Second-Half Scare Versus Swainsboro

Tavon Ross a pair of touchdown runs as well as two touchdow passes and Blake Lucas banged home a career-long 47 yard field goal as Bleckley carried to the dressing room a 32-13 halftime lead versus Swainsboro.  However, things would get interesting in the second half.  Three Royals did not play due to injury.  Zack Moe (who caught one of Ross's touchdowns) went out with a deep thigh bruise.  Frankie Mullis suffered a hip pointer.  Mario McClendon spent the second half on crutches due to a sprained ankle.
