Hawkinsville Red Devils Leading in Baseball

 The Red Devils are on a hot trail to victory, losing only three games during the whole season. They defeated Taylor County April 3 6-0, Schley County, April 5, 4-0, St. Anne- Pacelli on April 13, 11-1. They lost to First Presbyterian Day School 1-9 on April 4 and Veterans on April 12, 7-17.

Remaining on schedule for the Red Devils are Brookstone, April 17, Macon County, April 19, Chattahoochee County, April 20, Schley County, April 23 and Dooly County April 25.

Royals Close out Home Regular Season with Win Versus East Laurens

Friday's regular season home finale for Bleckley was extra special.  Not only was it senior night, a win meant the Royals were guaranteed second in 3B-AA and Tuesday's game at Dodge County would be for the subregion championship.  Up 1-0 in the fourth, Cal Young's two-run single made it 3-0.  One batter later, Young would come home on a Bryant Trice two-run home run with two outs.  ELHS tried to rally in the seventh, capitalizing on three Royal errors.  BCHS would hang on for a 5-2 win.

Young finished 2 for 3.  Chastain Coleman was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI.  Dylan Churchwell was 2 for 3 with a double.  Monday's game at Jeff Davis has been moved to 5:30 p.m.  Tuesday, Bleckley and Dodge will square off in Eastman for top seed in the upcoming region playoffs.  It will be varsity only and start at 6 p.m.

Lady Royals Soccer Team Falls at Home to Screven County

Screven County scored at 36:08 of the first half and added a penalty kick at 9:55 of the second as Bleckley fell at home 2-0 Thursday.  Despite the loss and a 3-0 loss at East Laurens Tuesday, the Lady Royals remain tied for the final playoff berth with the Lady Falcons.

Royals Keep Subregion Title Hopes Alive with Win at Dublin

Dylan Churchwell had two hits including an RBI single and pitched his first complete game of the season as Bleckely kept hold to second place in 3B-AA with a 3-1 win at Dublin Tuesday.  Churchwell went 2 from 4 at the plate and gave up one run, five hits, and one walk over seven innings.  Frankie Lee Mullis went 1 for 2 with a sac fly.

With two games left in the regular season, both BCHS and Dodge have 5-2 subregion records thanks to East Lauren's 9-5 win versus the Indians Tuesday.  Dodge has the tiebreaker over Bleckley due to head to head.   The Falcons are currently 3-4 in 3B-AA.  The Royals host ELHS Friday for senior night.  JV play at 4 p.m. with varsity to follow.  Senior night activities will take place between games.

The Dodge County Wrestling program will host its 5th annual Wrestling Awards banquet on April 20, 2012 at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

Royals Unable to Maintain Hot Start Versus Dodge

Cochran was the site of a battle for first in 3B-AA when Dodge County traveled to Cochran to take on Bleckley.  The Royals scored three runs in the second inning with two outs to make it 5-1.  Dodge's Aron Chick settled down, holding BC to just three hits for the rest of the game.  He would hit the game-tying home run in the fifth.  The Indians took the lead on an error.  Ben Harris and Cal Young singled with two outs in the bottom of the seventh but there would be no comeback in a 6-5 Royals loss. 

Chastain Coleman was 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI.   Young and Caleb Slaughter both went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.  Thursday's home game versus Northside has been cancelled.  BCHS returns to action April 10 in Dublin.  JV play at 4 pm with varsity to follow.

Royals Survive Late Scare Versus East Laurens

While there wasn't a walk off ending Friday when Bleckley traveled to East Laurens, it was another close game between the Royals and Falcons.  Dylan Churchwell connected on the game's first pitch to put BC up 1-0.  Five runs with two outs in the second made it 6-0.  ELHS would hang around, cutting the deficit to 6-3 after two, then 7-4 after five innings.  With BCHS leading 9-4 in the bottom of the seventh, EL's Travis Roach connected on a two out, three-run home run to make it 9-7.  Kace Kirkpatrick came in and struck out the next batter to preserve the Royals win.
