The Lady Royals trailed 36-19 going into the fourth quarter of Tuesday's game at Northside.  Bleckley staged  a rally, getting within six points with about a minute left.  But it would be a case of "too little, too late" as they lost 49-43.  Tia Troup and Cam Tillman both scored 12.  BCHS shot 37 percent (6 of 16) from the free throw line.

Tied at 41 to begin the fourth, the Royals three-point lead was their first advantage since the first quarter.  Northside went ahead with under two minutes remaining.  Rydealous Taylor's third three of the game with 1:05 left tied the score.  Taylor would hit another game-tying shot in the final minute.

Tied at 57 with five seconds left, Savon Walters hit a short jumper to put BC ahead.  A last-second heave by Northside was just short as the Royals won 59-57.

BCHS Splits Games with Houston County

BCHS Splits Games with Houston County

During the early days of their existance, Houston and Bleckley County were region rivals.   As Houston County grew, so did the high school.  It's now  4A, while BCHS remains in Class AA.  Despite the size difference, the two schools have met during basketball season at the Bear Brawl tournament.  Tuesday, HoCo and BC matched up in Cochran.

The Lady Royals fell behind 11-2 early and trailed by as many as 30 points in the fourth quarter.  BC trimmed 10 points off the final deficit as they lost 74-54.  Tia Troup had 14 points and Dewanda Blackshear scored 13.  A 9-0 run by the Royals to end the first half put them up 34-17 over Houston County.  Reserves played most of the fourth as Bleckley improved to 3-0 with a 54-45 win.  Mario Beck had 22 points and six rebounds.  Marcus Mack dished out five assists and had five rebounds to go with 7 points.  Ken Hughes had eight rebounds to go with 7 points.

Dodge Out-Grapples Baldwin

Dodge Out-Grapples Baldwin

Dodge Co. Grappling Indians hosted Baldwin Co. in a Dual Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 29. Dodge pulled out the win, that is measured in team points.

It was a night of hard fought battles. Baldwin has a very tough group of wrestlers.

Wins in matches were back and forth between weight classes until Dodge pulled ahead with two crucial pins by Freshman Tyler Gruben and Sophomore Chandler Cannon, that gave the team the points they needed for the victory.

Baldwin has a very well-mannered team with good sportsmanship. It was obvious that they were well-coached and have a team for the school and county to be proud of.
