Bleckey Finishes First, Dodge Second, in Region 3B-AA Standings

Thursday was the day that playoff seeding for the upcoming region playoffs would be decided as both Bleckley and Dodge had their final subregion games.  Bleckley played at Dublin High School and won 27-0.

Dodge rallied from a 6-5 deficit to win 11-6 at East Laurens.

Based upon the tiebreaker of region runs allowed, BCHS will be the top seed from the subregion in the upcoming playoffs.  Both teams will host first-round series.  Last year saw Bleckley and Dodge make it to the region championship series with Dodge winning two games to one.

Bleckley plays on September 21 at Crisp County.  Game time has been moved to 5:30 pm.  Dodge plays Monday at Northside, Warner Robins.  Start time is 6 p.m.

Bleckley closed out their home regular season Tuesday versus East Laurens.  Before the game, senior ballplayers and parents were recognized.  When it was time to take the field, it was a good finale for the seniors as a pair of four-run innings powered BC to an 8-0 win in five innings.  Marlee Bryan gave up one hit and struck out six.  Katie Simmons was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI.  Taylor Little and Lana Maddox were 2 for 3.  Kelsey Darsey was 1 for 2.

Thursday closes out sub-region play when BCHS plays at Dublin.  Game time is 5 pm.  Of note is Dodge County's sub-region finale Thursday at East Laurens at 5 pm.  Both teams are tied in 3B-AA standings both have allowed the same number of runs.

The next tiebreaker is region runs allowed.

Dodge currently has the edge in that tiebreaker as they shut out East Laurens in their first meeting while Bleckley won 15-2.

A somewhat healthier Royals football team took the field in Brooklet Friday night looking for their first win of 2011.  Taking advantage of a Yellow Jacket fumble, Tavon Ross hit Jaquante Burns for a 30-yard touchdown pass in the first to put Bleckley on top.  Blake Lucas had a 41-yard field goal with 1:41 left .  In the second quarter, BCHS got the first of several defensive stops when they stiffled SEB on an attempted fourth and 10 conversion from the Royal 31.  Dre Pitts returned a put 78 yards in the final minute.  Though the kick was blocked, BC led 16-0 at halftime.

Lady Royals fall in eight innings to Dodge County

Lady Royals fall in eight innings to Dodge County

Though Thursday's Bleckley-Dodge softball game was in Eastman, there was a sense of deja vu about the evening.  Both teams would strand runners.  It took eight innings again to decide a winner.  The difference this time is that it would be BCHS who made a key error late.

Trailing 3-2 in the third, Taylor Little's solo home run tied the score.  An Emmie Meadows single made it 4-3 Lady Royals.  Dodge tied it in the fourth.

Though BC had a runner at third with no outs in the top of the fifth, she would be left stranded.

BCHS got out of a two on, no out jam in the bottom of the inning.  Another scoring opportunity for Bleckley in the seventh, runners at second and third with one out, produced no runs.  Dodge had the bases loaded with two outs in their half of the inning but Marlee Bryan struck out Blakelyn Bundick to end the threat.
