Conditioning for high school softball to begin June 9.

The BCHS softball team will start conditioning for upcoming ninth graders and current students interested in playing for the 2020-21 team June 9 and on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the month from 7 to 8:30 am at the high school softball field. Conditioning will consist of weights, running, and cardio. Anyone participating must have an updated physical uploaded to Dragonfly unless they received one through the school last year. BCHS boys basketball team holding car wash June 6.

The BCHS boys basketball team will hold a car wash in the Citizens Bank of Cochran parking lot June 6 from 9 am to noon.  Cost is donation, proceeds will go toward expenses for the coming season.  State guidelines will be followed.

BCHS defensive back Williams to play for Asa Miami.

Ty Williams, a senior defensive back for the Royals, will continue his football career at Asa Miami College. Williams made the announcement Friday via Twitter. He was an honorable mention on this year's 3-AA All Region Team.

Paying tribute to spring sports seniors.

With spring sports cancelled, senior athletes were denied their final moments to shine, as well as any final recognition. To help that, lights were turned on at the tennis court, baseball field, and football stadium. Signs and banners adorned the areas to recognize spring sports athletes from the Class of 2020. Lassiter "couldn't be more proud" of Fromm being drafted to NFL.

Of the many people who were cheering when Jake Fromm was drafted by the Buffalo Bills, some of the loudest probably came from his high school coach and friend Von Lassiter.  Click here for more.


Royals Harris receiving scholarship offers.

Though spring sports were cancelled and practices for football suspended, the great season by one Royals football player has gotten him several collegiate offers. Junior defensive lineman Willie Harris, a first team member of the 3-AA All Region team has been announcing via Twitter scholarship offers from numerous colleges and universities. Thus far, Harris has received offers from Coastal Carolina, Southern Missouri, Notre Dame College, Jacksonville State, Gardner Webb, Georgia State University, and Bryant University.

Lights to be turned on to honor BCHS spring sports seniors.

Though seniors participating in spring sports didn’t get to complete their seasons, something will be done to recognize them. Royal Stadium, the baseball field, and tennis courts will be lit up to honor this year’s soccer, tennis, baseball, and track seniors . According to a statement by athletic director Von Lassiter, lights at those locations will be on from 7 pm May 9 until the next morning. Parents and coaches may place signs or banners on the outside gates, but no one is allowed to enter any of the facilities. You’re also asked not to congregate at the locations, per social distancing guidelines.
