Middle Georgia Drops Out Of Baseball Tourney

Middle Georgia State College's baseball team withdrew from the District Championship less than 24 hours before they were scheduled to start play in the tournament.

James Hagler, Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation for the school, said an eligibility issue with a player on the team forced the school to make the decision to pull out of the tournament.

Hagler said the issue surfaced during a routine eligibility check this week.  Hagler said the school could not release the player's name but the player did participate in last week's Region 17 Tournament which the Warriors won to qualify for the District Championship.

The team was already traveling to Tennessee, site of the District Tournament, when the eligibility issue came to light.

The winner of the District Tournament advances to the National Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.
