GDOT awards grant for widening of US 23 between Bleckley, Dodge counties.

The Georgia Department of Transportation announced the awarding of a $42.3 million dollar grant to Everett Dykes Grassing Co. for the widening of 9.5 miles of US 23 starting south of SR 257 in Bleckley/Dodge Counties going just outside Log Cabin Road in Eastman. The project calls for two, 12-foot lanes in each direction with a grass median. Anticipated completion time is October 31, 2021. The grant is related to the ongoing widening project of US 23/SR 87 starting above Foskey Road and going to Dykes Circle. It puts a grade separation at the Norfolk Southern Railroad and SR 87 by way of an overpass bridge. The project connects the existing five-lane section outside of Cochran with the four-lane section north of Cochran. Everett Dykes Grassing also received the grant for this $21.3 million project. Anticipated completion date is August 31, 2020.
