No more detours in Cochran.
News, Transportation

People living in and driving through Cochran have had to adjust their driving over the past year due to construction detours. First, a portion of the bypass to Eastman was closed for over a year while a bridge was built over the railroad crossing as part of a widening project. When it opened in June, traffic was rerouted onto the bypass while SR 87 Business was tied into the newly-widened road. Now, that detour is gone. Georgia Department of Transportation East Traffic announced via Twitter Tuesday that the detour has been removed and traffic was flowing normally. The next part of the project will involve making the bypass starting at Frank Cook Road four lanes.
