City Council approves bid for improvements in Railroad Avenue area.

At a called meeting held last night, the Cochran City Council approved a bid by Dykes Grassing of $296,255 for storm, sewer, and roadway improvements in the Railroad Avenue Community Development Block Grant target area. Improvements will include repaving of Railroad Avenue, and resurfacing Locomotive and Caboose Lanes , as well as portions of East Railroad Avenue, South Mendel Lane, and North Avenue. According to city manager Richard Newbern, completion of the project will make the city eligible for a future community development block grant. To watch a video of last night's meeting, click here.
