Lady Royals fall in eight innings to Dodge County

Though Thursday's Bleckley-Dodge softball game was in Eastman, there was a sense of deja vu about the evening.  Both teams would strand runners.  It took eight innings again to decide a winner.  The difference this time is that it would be BCHS who made a key error late.

Trailing 3-2 in the third, Taylor Little's solo home run tied the score.  An Emmie Meadows single made it 4-3 Lady Royals.  Dodge tied it in the fourth.

Though BC had a runner at third with no outs in the top of the fifth, she would be left stranded.

BCHS got out of a two on, no out jam in the bottom of the inning.  Another scoring opportunity for Bleckley in the seventh, runners at second and third with one out, produced no runs.  Dodge had the bases loaded with two outs in their half of the inning but Marlee Bryan struck out Blakelyn Bundick to end the threat.

In the eighth, pinch runner Maggie Bell was tagged out at home by Bundick on a close play after Bell tried to score on a Lindsey Dabbs grounder to first.  Hannah Moore bunted to lead off Dodge's half of the eighth.  An error allowed Bundick to score from second as the Lady Royals lost 5-4.  Katie Simmons was 3 for 5.  Meadows finished 2 for 4 with 1 RBI.  Little finished 1 for 2 with two walks.

Bleckley will play Friday and Saturday in the Midseason Classic hosted by Jeff Davis High School.  They play Appling County Friday at 6:30 pm.

Saturday games are against Bacon County at Noon, Wheeler County at 2 pm, and Ware County at 6 pm.  All will be played at the Jeff Davis County Rec. Department.
