Bleckley picks up football win at Southeast Bulloch

A somewhat healthier Royals football team took the field in Brooklet Friday night looking for their first win of 2011.  Taking advantage of a Yellow Jacket fumble, Tavon Ross hit Jaquante Burns for a 30-yard touchdown pass in the first to put Bleckley on top.  Blake Lucas had a 41-yard field goal with 1:41 left .  In the second quarter, BCHS got the first of several defensive stops when they stiffled SEB on an attempted fourth and 10 conversion from the Royal 31.  Dre Pitts returned a put 78 yards in the final minute.  Though the kick was blocked, BC led 16-0 at halftime.

The Jackets were again left frustrated on fourth down conversions in the third quarter as Bleckley stopped them twice on their 35.  Ken Hughes had a 40-yard touchdown run early in the fourth as the Royals won 23-0.  Cody Pearce and Savon Walters were back from injury.  Dalton Floyd suffered a shoulder injury at Tuesday's practice.  Defensive lineman Shaunkendrick Brown was also out with a shoulder injury.  Hughes had 42 yards on three carries.  Dytrez Nelson rushed for 47 yards on 11 carries.  Tavon Ross ran for 46 yards on 11 carries.

Bleckley's defense held SEB to 178 total yards (142 rushing.)  The Royals return home September 16 against East Laurens.  Kickoff is 7:30 pm.
