Bleckley: GBI Conducts DNA test on Gun in Fatal Shooting | News
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Bleckley County Sheriff Harold Lancaster says the GBI is conducting DNA tests on the the gun of a Cochran man who was fatally shot by a deputy.
One deputy tried to handcuff Wright when he started to struggle. The second deputy tased Wright. Once the taser discharge expired, Lancaster says Wright pulled out his own gun on the deputy who tased him. That's when the second deputy shot Wright.
Lancaster says Wright's gun was turned over to GBI and the DNA test will "prove the gun was in Wright's hand" and that his deputy did not try to "throw the gun down after shooting him."
The officers are still on administrative leave. GBI is still investigating the shooting.
