EASTMAN - The Federal Aviation Administration has given another go-ahead to Middle Georgia College to fly drones.

The Aviation Campus will use a TwinStar II drone -- known in the industry as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, or UAVs -- to research ways of enhncing agricultural practices and production, according to a news release.

The Dodge County Development Authority will acquire an area of land near the Heart of Georgia Regional Airport for the test flights.

This is Middle Georgia College's second authorization to test a drone. The university claims there are only 400 such active authorizations in the country.

Campus interns, faculty and staff will participate in the research.
