GBI Investigating Bleckley Co. Jail Death | News

The GBI is investigating an apparent suicide of an inmate at the Bleckley County jail.

A spokesman for the Bleckley sheriff's department says jail guards found the body of 21-year-old Kevin Colby Purser in his cell Thursday, just before noon.

Todd Lowery, special agent in charge of the GBI's Eastman office said Purser was last seen alive sometime that morning. Purser apparently hung himself with bedsheets, Lowery said.

The GBI is still interviewing people in the jail, and an autopsy may be performed Friday, he said.

The sheriff's department says Purser had been in the jail since Dec. 13 on a  shoplifting charge from Cochran police.
