There are flood warnings in effect for parts of the Ocmulgee River due to recent heavy rains. Although these warnings are issued for an entire county, the impacts are limited to areas right along the river.
Ocmulgee River near Abbeville
Flood warning for the Ocmulgee River in Dodge, Telfair and Wilcox Counties until further notice.
At 4:00 Thursday morning the stage was 12.5 feet and falling. Flood stage is 12.0 feet. Minor flooding will continue for a few days. Roads to homes along the west side of the river in Abbeville may be inaccessible. The river is expected to drop below flood stage by tonight.
Ocmulgee River near Lumber City
The flood warning for the Ocmulgee River in Montgomery, Telfair and Wheeler Counties has been canceled.
At 5:00 Thursday morning the stage was 14.7 feet and steady. Minor flooding is no longer forecast so the warning was canceled. Flood stage is 15 feet.
Rainfall Record
Macon's February rain total came out to 12.87 inches. That surpassed a 1929 record of 12.04 inches.
