BCHS baseball loses scrimmage at Veterans.

The Royals baseball team lost Thursday's scrimmage game at Veterans High School 8-2.  Brody Little was 3 for 3 with a double.  BCHS opens the regular season at Jeff Davis February 12.  Game time is 6 pm.

Though the weather Thursday night was far from winter, Bleckley Elementary held their annual Winter Festival.  It offered a variety of fun activities for both kids, and adults.  To see more photos, click here.

Though Nykeem Farrow signed his letter of intent to play football with Kennesaw State University December 19, he wasn’t recognized for the accomplishment. A ceremony to honor him for the accomplishment, surrounded by family, coaches, teammates, and friends, was held Wednesday afternoon n the BCHS Media Center. This season, Farrow rushed for 1,190 yards on 187 carries and scored 15 touchdowns. He averaged 6.36 yards per rush. Farrow also caught 20 passes for 384 yards with six touchdowns, averaging 16.4 yards per catch.

Though the Royals were down just two points to Southwest in Tuesday afternoon's region tourney opener, they managed just eight third quarter points.  BC never recovered in losing 46-35.  To read more, click here.

Cornerstone Church of Cochran opening food bank February 12.

Cornerstone Church of Cochran will open their Love Center Food Bank February 12 from 11 am to 2 pm while supplies last.  According to promotional materials, it's for "anyone who could benefit from a free box of food and love." Distribution will take place in the church parking lot, 129 E. Beech Street.

Down two at halftime, scoring runs of 15-3 and 14-1 to start the third and fourth quarters proved too much to overcome as the seventh-seeded Lady Royals lost to sixth seed Dublin in the first round of region Monday night at East Laurens.  To read more, click here.
