New exhibition opening inside MGA Peacock Gallery Monday.

Middle Georgia State University's Peacock Gallery will host an opening reception and gallery talk for the Wini McQueen Art Exhibition November 13 at 6 pm. The gallery is located inside Russell Hall on the Cochran campus. It's free and open to all.

Local church holding fall festival Saturday.

Bethany Baptist Church will hold a fall festival November 11 from 5-7 pm. Activities include a barrel train ride, hay ride, face painting, cupcake walk, and more. The church is located at 608 Highway 26 E across from Bleckley County Middle School.

Church opening food bank to local residents November 17.

Faith Temple Precious Faith Ministries will open their food bank to local residents November 17 from 4-5 pm.  For more information, call Sherri Ligon, (478)298-2844.  The church is located at 383 GA 87 in Cochran.

Gospel group to perform at local church during November 12 service.

Gospel quartet the Diplomats will perform during the November 12 morning service at Empire Pentecostal Holiness Church.  It starts at 10:30 am.  Empire Pentecostal is located at 101 Church Street in Cochran.

BCMS wins third straight region cheer title.

BCMS wins third straight region cheer title.

It was a history-making night for Bleckley County Middle School at Monday's MGMSAA Region Cheerleading Championship.  For the first time in school history, BCMS won three straight region cheerleading titles.

Season ends for BCHS football.

Bleckley saw their season end in the three-team mini playoff Monday night at West Laurens.  Taking on Washington County, it was scoreless after two five-minute periods.  In overtime, the Golden Hawks blocked an extra point.  BCHS lost 10-9, their third straight by seven points or less.  They finish 6-5, 3-4 in 3-AA.

It was a tough day for BCHS at the Central Georgia Region Cheerleading Championship held Saturday at West Laurens.  Read more here.  Friday, the squad will be at the Columbus Civic Center for sectionals.  It starts at 9 am, Bleckley competes seventh.
