New art exhibit opening at MGA's Peacock Gallery September 9.

The John Witzky Art Exhibition "Between Dog and Wolf" will open at Peacock Gallery inside Russell Hall at Middle Georgia State University in Cochran September 9. A gallery talk and opening reception will be held September 10. The exhibit will be there through October 4. Gallery hours are 8 am-5:30 pm Monday through Thursday and 8 am to noon on Fridays.

CBRD football Opening Day September 14.

Opening Day for football for the Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department will be September 14 at 9 am.  Games will be played at Royal Stadium.  Admission $2 per person.

Contraflow due to hurricane evacuations to close part of I-16 East.

Due to the mandatory evacuation of coastal Georgia counties because of Hurricane Dorian, contraflow will take place tomorrow on I-16 East. Starting at 8 am, I-16 East at Exit 39 will be closed to allow four lanes to be used for travel west. The closure is from Dublin to Savannah. All westbound lanes of I-16 will have normal operations.

Christ Chapel Cochran's C4 Kids Ministry held a drive-in movie Saturday night. The event was moved inside due to the threat of rain. Children had their own "cars" to sit in, designed by adults. They had fresh popcorn and other snacks and enjoyed a showing of "Wonder Park." C4 Kids meets Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm and is open to children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Christ Chapel also offers 'Reverb" for middle and high school students.

Mistakes catch up to BCHS versus Veterans.

Though down just 14-10 at halftime to Veterans High School, too many second half miscues and missed opportunities led to Bleckley's first loss of 2019.  Click here for more.
