Chicken plate sale helping fund upcoming church mission trip.

House of Grace church members sold grilled chicken plates Saturday night. Proceeds will go toward an August mission trip to Honduras. Church members going are: Thomas Weekley, Aaron Curry, Lee Wimberly, Katlin Lucas, Christie McUmber, Jan Brister, John Brister, Sheena Gibberson, and Adam Hall. The group dug wells on a mission trip last year, this year they'll be building water lines to homes.

Also part of the trip will be outreach sessions at the community center and sharing at local churches during the evenings. Donations of cash, lined or unlined spiral notebooks, colored pencils, crayons, and powdered baby formula are sought for the trip. Cash donations can be made online at houseofgracecochran.org Formula and supplies can be dropped off at the church, 133 Jac Arts Road.

Future Lady Royals Fastpitch Camp postponed.

The Future Lady Royals Faspitch camp scheduled for June 25-27 has been postponed until April 2019 when it will be done as an after school event.

Cochran Bypass open, traffic temporarily rerouted.

The Cochran Bypass was opened to traffic Thursday afternoon. US 23/SR 87 Business will be closed for approximately 30 days as it's connected to the newly widened highway. Fans of Sugarberry's restaurant can take heart though, a gravel path where the detour begins allows access to the popular buffett.

BCHS Beta Club has great showing at nationals.

Bleckley County High School Beta Club was in Savannah June 17-20 for the National Convention.  Of the nine events in which a member competed, six placed in the top ten, including two national champions and two runners up.  To read more, click here.

Football registration ongoing at Cochran Rec. Department.

Registration for football is happening now at the Cochran Bleckley Recreation Department through August 10.  Cost is $55 per child.  Ages 4-6  will play flag football, 7-12 tackle.  Registration can be done online or at the rec. department with a credit or debit card.  Call (478)934-3225 for more information.

Enjoy worship and fireworks with Christ Chapel Cochran's Star Spangled Sunday.

Christ Chapel Cochran presents "Star Spangled Sunday" July 1. Worship services will be that morning at 9 and 10:30 am. A fireworks show with free drinks and children's giveaways will be that night at 9 pm. The church is located 330 West Dykes Street.
