BCHS Gets Road Sweep In Hawkinsville

Tia Troup had 18 points, and Myesha Moore added 11 as the Lady Royals won in Hawkinsville 67-32 Friday night.  Bleckley opened the game on an 11-0 run and led 18-2 after one quarter.  Marcus Mack scored the Royals first five points, and had a game-clinching layup in the waning seconds in a 56-49 win, completing the sweep. 

Mack had 13 points and 3 steals.  Ken Hughes scored 13 points with six rebounds.  Mario Beck scored 12 with nine rebounds. 

The Royals led for most of the game despite only shooting 34 percent from the field and going 11 of 28 (39 percent) from the line.

Bleckley hosts Houston County Tuesday.  Tip time is 6 p.m.

Tia Troup scored 18 points and Ieisha Gainey added 12 as the Lady Royals rolled over Telfair County 76-17 at home Tuesday. 

Mario Beck had 19 points with 13 boards and Marcus Mack had 12 points with six assists as the Royals won 56-39. 

Bleckley outrebounded the Trojans 41-25 and hit seven three pointers. 

BCHS plays at Hawkinsville Friday. 

Tip time is 6 p.m.

Snow Chance? 'No Need to Push the Panic Button'

Our morning meteorologist David Ernst has been talking with you on Facebook about the chance of a light rain-snow mix overnight.

Here was his advice:

"Even though we're talking about the potential for some snow to mix with rain overnight/tomorrow morning...no need to push the panic button for this one. Temps will be too warm for anything to stick."

Monroe County's Emergency Management Agency used a little humor to try to ease the public's concerns.

On their Facebook page, they wrote:

"Ok, before everyone rushes to the grocery stores for milk and bread, please pay special attention to the forecasts, Winter Apocalypse 2011 isn't happening this week."

Tripp Family Light Display

The Tripp family from Yonkers, Ga. put up over 100,000 Christmas lights. Joey Tripp stopped by Weekend Mornin' to invite everyone out to see the display.

Telfair Prison Fight Blamed on 'Illegal Cell Phones'

The state Department of Corrections says "illegal cell phones" in prison were the cause of Monday night's fight at the Telfair State Prison.

Two dorms are still on lockdown after a major fight,  according to Georgia Department of Corrections spokeswoman Gwendolyn Hogan.

She says three inmates were taken to the hospital, and two are in stable condition.

According to the news release, state Commissioner Brian Owens said,  "This incident brings to light the serious dangers of cell phones in our prison system.
