Caller Threatened Bleckley Students

Bleckley County schools were closed Tuesday after someone threatened the district's students by phone.

That's according to the county's emergency management director, Mike Smith. He says the county 911 got a call just before 11 o'clock Monday  night.

A message on the school district's website says: "Due to circumstances beyond our control, school has been canceled for students and staff on Tuesday, March 8."

Smith told 13WMAZ's Amy Aubert that a male on the phone threatened to blow up any student who set foot on a Bleckley campus on Tuesday.

A second male could be heard in the background, shouting the same message.

So, school was canceled for all Bleckley students and staff.

An Eastman couple accused of providing a 14-year-old girl's sexual services to a man in exchange for a van were sentenced to prison Monday.

District Attorney Tim Vaughn says auto dealer Robert Wayne Bearden was also sentenced.

Sandra Davis and James Clarence Davis, both 36 years old, and Bearden, 66, all pled guilty to child molestation Monday in Dodge County Superior Court, he said.

Bearden also pled guilty to being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, Vaughn said.

The two men received 20-year sentences, 10 to be served in prison, he said. Sandra Davis got a 20-year sentence, with eight in prison, he said.

All three must register as sex offenders when they are released and must serve probation and pay fines, he said. All three were ordered to stay away from the victim during that 20-year sentence.
