Gerald Bishop

 

Graveside services for Mr. Gerald Arthur Bishop, 81, of Cochran who died Friday, June 1, 2012 at his residence will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday in Greenlawn Cemetery, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, Georgia.

Mr. Bishop was born in Orlando, Florida on August 22, 1930 to Alice M. House Bishop and Irwin L. Bishop. He attended Young Harris College and Emory University where he obtained the first MBA with specialization in Hospital Management. In October 1950, he joined the U.S. Navy serving in Japan until August, 1954 where he served in the Hospital Corp.

His career spanned time teaching/coaching in Douglas and Ben Hill County – later teaching at heart of Georgia Technical School in Dublin. He was the first Eagle Scout in his troop. Gerald opened and served as the first Administrator of four Continuing Care Retirement Communities including Magnolia Manor, Lenbrook Square and two Delmar Garden facilities.

Fred Evans

 

Funeral services for Mr. Fred Evans, 62, of Panama City Beach, Florida, formerly of Cochran, who died Monday, May 28, 2012 will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, June 1, 2012 in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salem Baptist Cemetery.

Mr. Evans was born in Laurens County, the son of the late Lamar Evans. He had lived in Panama City, Florida for the past 20 years. He was retired from National Coating and Supply Company. He was a graduate of Cochran High School Class of 1969 and was a member of Agape Baptist Church in Panama City. He was a former member and past president of the Cochran-Bleckley Jaycees and preceded in death by a sister, Brenda   Milnor and a brother, W.L. Evans.

Farris Russell Lowery

 

MR. FARRIS RUSSELL LOWERY, age 66, of Eastman, GA, died Tuesday,

May 22, 2012 in Dodge County Hospital.

 

            Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Friday, May 25 in Cottondale Baptist Church, with Rev. Clyde Evans and Rev. Daniel Cook officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.

 

            Mr. Lowery was native of Dodge County, a member of Cottondale Baptist Church and Cottondale Men’s Sunday School Class, a retired Custodial Engineer for Middle Georgia College and son of the late Marie Jones Lowery & Farris Elmer Lowery.  He enjoyed journaling, photography & gardening and was preceded in death by a Son – John Russell “Russ” Lowery and Brother-in-Law – George David Whiggum.

 

Darthey Ann 'Dot' McCranie Allen 1943-2012

 

MRS. DARTHEY ANN “DOT” McCRANIE ALLEN, age 69, of Eastman, GA, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in Dublinair Nursing Home, Dublin.

 Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM Friday, May 25 in Parkerson Cemetery, with Rev. Charles Robinson and Rev. Ronny Moore officiating.

Mrs. Allen was a member of Gresston Baptist Church, a retired CNA for Fairview Park Hospital, Dublin, daughter of the late Ruby Coody McCranie-Pierce & James Alex McCranie and widow of William “Billy” Allen, Sr.  She was preceded in death by 2 Daughters – Allison Bozeman and Sheila Allen and 2 Brothers – Robert McCranie and Jarrell McCranie.

Debbie Corbitt 1961-2012

 

MRS. DEBBIE DENISE HARRELL CORBITT, age 51, of Eastman, went home to be with Jesus Monday, May 21, 2012 at her residence.

 

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, May 23, at Milan Baptist Church, with Dr. Jerry Peele, Mr. Mike Hilliard and Mr. Robert Evans officiating, with interment at 4:00PM in Mars Hill Cemetery, Decatur County, GA, with Dr. Jimmy Voyles and Rev. Steve Poppell officiating.

 

James 'Jimmy' DeLoach

 

Funeral services for Mr. James Marshall “Jimmy” DeLoach, 46, of Cochran who died Sunday, May 20, 2012 in the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. Funeral will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday in Harmony Baptist Church in Dooly County. Burial will be in Harmony/Smyrna Cemetery.

Mr. DeLoach was born in Dooly County and had lived in Cochran for the past five years. He was a graduate of Fullington Academy in 1983. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College and graduated from Macon State College. He was a FAA Certified Private Pilot. He was a deacon at Harmony Baptist Church and former Sunday School Teacher, Children’s Church Director and a former Music Director before moving his letter to First Baptist Church of Cochran. He was a chemical salesman for Agri-AFC.

He was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Dooly County Farm Bureau.

Elizabeth W. Attaway

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth W. Attaway, 87, of Cochran, who died Tuesday May 15, 2012 in Bolingreen Health and Rehab Center, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday in the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.  Rev. Randy Carnley will officiate.

Mrs. Attaway was born in Bleckley County, daughter of the late Rufus H. and Inez Rutland Wade and the widow of Emory Cecil Attaway.   She was a graduate of Cochran High School, class of 1942, graduate of Middle Georgia College 1945 and attended Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville.  She was retired from Citizen Bank of Cochran as a Vice President, and was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Cochran First United Methodist Church.
