Obituaries

Virginia Wade Hallett

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Wade Hallett, 103, of Cochran who died Monday, January 14, 2013 will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Price and Rev. Alan Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Hallett was born in Twiggs County, the daughter of the late Hayward and Martha Findley Wynne. She was the widow of Fulton Frank Wade and Lloyd Hallett. She was retired from Robins A.F.B. and the oldest member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and a member of Perry Eastern Star.

Survivors include a daughter, Adair (Jerry) Rambo of Cochran; son, Wyndell (Nell) Wade of Kathleen; five grandchildren, Ricky Wade of Kathleen, Ken (Liz) Wade of Winston-Salem, NC, Don Rambo, Mike (Becky) Rambo and Scott Rambo, all of Cochran; six great grandchildren.

Doris Joiner Weeks

 

MRS. DORIS JOINER WEEKS, age 84, of Eastman, GA, died Monday, January 14, 2013, at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home, Eastman.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00PM Saturday, January 19, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Eastman, with Mr. Keith Wenger officiating, with private interment in Chauncey City Cemetery.

Mrs. Weeks was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a homemaker and former co-owner & operator of Eastman Fine Furniture.  She was daughter of the late Mary Lizzie Rogers Joiner & Will Joiner, widow of Albert Drexel Weeks and was preceded in death by 7 Siblings – William Joiner, Lillian Garrett, Lee Joiner, R. F. Joiner, Mildred Vaughn, Bobby Joiner and W. D. Joiner.

Horace Fordham

 

Mr. Horace Fordham, age 62, of Brunswick, formerly of Eastman died Tuesday, January 8, 2012.

   Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 in the Chapel of Hardy-Towns Funeral Home with Mr. David Yawn officiating.  Debbie Cox and Janie Norsworthy will be the musicians.  Interment will follow in Antioch #1 Baptist Church Cemetery.

   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

   He is survived by his wife, Peggy Ann Fordham of Brunswick, Ga.;  three daughters, Angela Dale Mathis, Audrey K. Spires, and Crissy Fordham; three sisters, Beth Yawn, Idell Irby (Buddy), and Janie Norsworthy (Jimmy); one aunt, Lois Condrey; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by one son, Mike Irvin Fordham and parents, Ruby Crumbly and Wilburn Fordham.

Mildred McRae

 

MRS. MILDRED BOWEN McRAE, age 76, of Rhine, GA, died Sunday, January 6, 2013, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Tuesday, January 8, at Rhine Baptist Church, with Rev. Ricky Gilmore and Mr. Gary Ryals officiating, with interment in Bay Springs Cemetery, Rhine.

Mrs. McRae, a native of Dodge County, was a member of Rhine Baptist Church, a retired WRAFB Civil Service Employee and a former Administrative Assistant for the City of Warner Robins.  She  was daughter of the late Mary Ida Barron Bowen & Horton Alexander “Hoyt” Bowen and was preceded in death by a Son – Philip Daryl “Phil” Ray, Two Sisters – Evelyn Dowdy & Dorothy Nelson and A Brother – Steve Bowen.

Lillie Mae Francis

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Mae Francis, 88, of Cochran who died Saturday, December 29, 2012 in Bryant Nursing Center will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in the chapel of Fisher Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Griffin and Rev. John Cadwell officiating. Burial will be in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Francis was born in Cook County, Illinois, the daughter of the late Herbert L. and Clemmie Lord Bridges. She was the widow of John William Francis, Sr. She had lived in Bleckley County most of her life. She was a member of 1st Church of Nazarene in Cochran. She was retired from Bleckley County School System in food service. She was preceded in death by a son, John W. Francis, Jr. and son-in-law, Glynn Brown.

Jane Ivelyn Cadwell Evans

 

MRS. JANE IVELYN CADWELL EVANS, Age 80, of Eastman died, January 1, 2013, at her residence in Dodge County.

Funeral Services will be held, Thursday, January 3, at 11:00AM in Antioch #2 Baptist Church in Milan, with Rev. Jack Lee officiating, with interment in Antioch #2 Cemetery.

 Mrs. Evans, a native of Dodge County, was a member of Antioch #2 Baptist Church, a retired secretary employed at Dodge County High School for 17 years and formerly with the Dodge County Commissioners office.  She was daughter of the late Leila Estelle Jones Cadwell and Dave Cadwell and was preceded in death by her Husbands- Charley P. Powell and James H. “Jim” Evans Jr. and 4 brothers- Wilmer Cadwell, John Cadwell, S.C. Cadwell, and David “Buddy” Cadwell.

Alice Joiner Rawlins-Braswell 1922-2012

 

MRS. ALICE JOINER RAWLINS-BRASWELL, age 89, of Eastman, GA, died Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Dodge County Hospital.

 

            Graveside services will be held at 3:00PM Friday, December 7, at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Daniel Cook and Rev. Chris Dotson officiating.

 

            Mrs. Rawlins-Braswell was a native of Dodge County, a member of Grace Baptist Church, a retired seamstress for S & J Shirt Factory and daughter of the late Alice Howard Joiner & Levi “Boy” Joiner.  She was preceded in death by 2 Husbands – Avery Wilton “Bill” Rawlins & John Quincy Braswell, Daughter – Barbara Ann Rawlins Jones, Grandson – Ashley Garner, 6 Siblings – Lessie J. Smith, Mose Joiner, Allen Joiner, Minnie Wright, Macy Giddens & Audrey Selph and 2 Infants.
