James A. Taylor


Mr. James A. Taylor, age 78, of Eastman died Tuesday, November 6, 2012.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, November 8, 2012 in Giddens-Harrell Cemetery with Rev. Kim Sheffield officiating.

He was a lifelong resident of  Dodge County and a retired logger.

Mr. Taylor,  the son of the late Opie Lee Rogers and James I. Taylor is survived by his wife, Diane Beck Taylor; daughters, Tonya Sheffield and Jamie Clark (Gary) ; sons, Mike Taylor and James Taylor (Janet); siblings, Van Long, Canoye Rainer, Faye Greene, Shirley T. Sheffield, Dianne Roland, and Jack Taylor; several grandchildren including Amber Sheffield and Kylie Sheffield.

The family will be at their residence, 500 Gum Swamp Rd., Eastman.

Juanita Ledbetter Barrow


Funeral services for Mrs. Juanita Ledbetter Barrow, 81, of Cochran who died Sunday, October 28, 2012 in the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday in Cochran First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Barrow was born in Lawrence County, Alabama, the daughter of the late James Paul and Minnie Elizabeth Gillespie. She was the widow of J.C. Ledbetter and Frank Barrow. She graduated from Florence State University in 1954 with honors and taught mathematics in Alabama as well as Bleckley County High School in Cochran. She retired as Director of Bleckley County Department of Family & Children Services. She was director of the Grief Recovery Program with Cochran First Baptist Church.

Bernie Demuth 1944-2012


MR. BERNARD EMORY (BERNIE) DEMUTH, age 68, of Eastman, GA, formerly of Tampa, FL, died Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Coliseum Medical Center, Macon.

Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Monday, October 29 at Zebulon Baptist Church, with Rev. Brian Jones and Dr. Michael Soud officiating, with interment in Zebulon Cemetery.

Mr. DeMuth was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church, a former resident of Tampa, FL for over 40 years, a 1966 Graduate of the University of Florida, a retired contractor for Ellis Construction, Heery Construction & Turner Construction and past President of Associated Builders & Contractors Gulf Coast Chapter.  He was an avid golfer, fisherman and University of Florida football fan.  He was son of the late Artie Warburton DeMuth & Nelson DeMuth.

Richard David Sanders 1985-2012


RICHARD DAVID SANDERS, age 27, of Eastman, GA, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Friday, October 26, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Donnie Sutton officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.

David was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, a 2003 Graduate of Dodge County High School, a warehouse supervisor for Global Sign Products and an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors:  Mother – Kimberly McCullough (Raymond) of Statesboro;  Father – Steve Sanders of Eastman;  Maternal Grandparents – Rev. John & Pauline Mobley of Eastman;  Paternal Grandmother – Liz McKinney of Pineview;  Aunt – Trena Sanders Woodard of Eastman;  Uncle – Ken Mobley (Rhonda) of Eastman.

Sarah Bush 1915-2012


MRS. SARAH CATHREN GILLIS BUSH, age 97, of Eastman, GA, died Thursday, October 25, 2012, in Heart of Georgia Nursing Home.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, October 27, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Chris Dotson and Dr. Jerry Peele officiating, with interment in Rentz City Cemetery, Rentz.

Dr. Don N. Parkerson


Services for Dr. Don N. Parkerson of Lake Oconee, formerly of Eastman, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 in the First Baptist Church in Eastman with burial in Orphan’s Cemetery.  Stokes Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman is in charge of the arrangements.   Dr. Parkerson was born on September 15, 1937 and died on October 24, 2012. He was the son of the late Sadie Ivey Parkerson and Bartow David Parkerson.  He was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Eastman and he was saved there on October 10, 1944.  He was most recently a member of The River of Life Church at Lake Oconee, Georgia.

Florence Maddox Thomas


Funeral service for Florence Maddox Thomas, 71, of Cochran who died Monday, October 15, 2012, will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Ms. Thomas was born in Dodge County and the daughter of the late Elder Elijah J. and Amanda Mary Moore Maddox.  She was a graduate of Cochran High School, class of 1959.  She was retired from Robins Air Force Base.  She was preceded in death by her brothers James Maddox, Junior Maddox, Jack Maddox and a sister Minnie Lee Roland .
