Faye Shepherd 1948-2012

 

MRS. FANNIE LOU “FAYE” SMITH SHEPHERD, age 64, of Eastman, GA, died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Fairview Park Hospital, Dublin, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, October 1, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Dahl McDermitt, Jr. and Rev. Debbie Cone officiating, with interment in Sugar Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Shepherd was born in Eastman, but moved to New Orleans in 1981, until she moved back to Eastman in 1992.  She was a member of Sugar Creek United Methodist Church, a retired CNA for Heart of Georgia and Middle Georgia Nursing Homes, daughter of the late Lillie Joiner Smith & Cecil Smith and a grandmother who loved her grandchildren very much.

Ted White 1949-2012

 

MR. TED WHITE, age 62, of Gresston, GA died Wednesday,

September 26, 2012, at his residence in Dodge County.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, September 29 at Gresston Baptist Church, with Rev. Darrell Quinn, Mr. Nick White and Mr. John White officiating.  Paige Baggs will read a poem in honor of Ted.  Interment will be in Gresston Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. White was a native of Dodge County and a retired Lance Corporal from the U. S. Marines, where he received the Purple Heart Medal during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of Gresston Baptist Church and son of the late Jane Barlow White & Robert Eschol White.

Mrs. Jewel Jones-Harrell 1919-2012

 

MRS. JEWELL AGNES BLANKENSHIP JONES-HARRELL, age 92, of Eastman, GA, died Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, September 22, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Dan Jones, Rev. Ken Lott and Rev. Greg Jones officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Jones-Harrell was a founding & the eldest member of Greenlawn Baptist Church, a homemaker and daughter of the late Amanda Smith Blankenship & Hartley E. Blankenship.  She was preceded in death by her Husbands – Rev. Alex H. Jones and Frank “Buddy” Harrell, Step-Daughter – Emily Lloyd and 3 Brothers – Oris Blankenship, Preston Blankenship & Ralph Blankenship.

Shirley P. Robinson

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Purser Robinson, 76, of Cochran who died Saturday, September 15, 2012 will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Robinson was born in Bleckley County, the daughter of the late Lonnie and Azalee Bishop Purser. She was the widow of James (Jimmy) W. Robinson. She was a graduate of Cochran High School Class of 1954, Middle Georgia College in 1956, Georgia Southern in 1958 and received her Masters from the University of Georgia. She was retired as a teacher and counselor with Bleckley County School System. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church & W.M.U. and the Bleckley County Retired Teachers.

Survivors include 2 sons, Wesley (Kathy) Robinson and Jody Robinson, both of Cochran; 2 grandchildren, Carmen (Andy) Barrs and Curt Hobbs, both of Cochran.

Carole Jones S. Graham

 

MRS. CAROLE JONES GRAHAM, age 68, passed into eternal life with her Heavenly Father on September 13, 2012.

            Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Eastman, GA on Saturday, September 15, at 2:00PM, with Dr. Jerry Peele officiating, with a private family interment in Orphans Cemetery. 

            Mrs. Graham was a graduate of Dodge County High School (1961), Wesleyan College (1965) and Georgia Southwestern University.  During her 32 years of teaching in the public school system, she served as a regular classroom teacher and for the last 19 years of her career was a teacher of the gifted.

For years, Carole Jones Graham was the face that many knew and the one that all turned to when they had a question about manners, etiquette and she didn't mind sharing her knowledge.

W.R. Purvis 1938-2012

 

MR. W.R. PURVIS, JR., age 74, of Eastman, GA, died Sunday,

September 2, 2012, in St. Francis Hospital in Columbus.

 Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, September 5, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Bobby Jones and Rev. Emory Howell officiating, with interment in Bay Springs Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Plainfield.

Mr. Purvis, born in Laurens County, was a member of Bay Springs Freewill Baptist Church, a retired Stuckey’s, Inc. employee and Warner Robins AFB Civil Service C-130 Sheet Metal Mechanic.  He was a family man who loved his Grandchildren and enjoyed fishing, hunting & camping.  He was preceded in death by his Parents- William Rollia Purvis & Lula Mae Clark Purvis, 3 Brothers- John A. Purvis, William May Purvis & Henry M. Purvis and 3 Sisters- Lavada Purvis, Leila Mae Greene & Pearlene P. Piper.
