The City of Cochran will officially observe trick or treating October 31 from 6-9 pm.

Former BCHS softball player to continue career at UGA.

Former Bleckley and current Gordon State softball player Hannah Coulter has "Committed to the G." Coulter announced via social media Thursday she'll be continuing her career with the University of Georgia in 2019. As a freshman, Coulter hit .312 with 10 doubles, three home runs, and 43 RBI. She was a first team selection to the NJCAA All Region Team.

Craft fair will benefit church missions.

First Baptist Church of Cochran's Thread Bearers Ministry will hold a Holiday Craft Fair October 20 from 9 am-6 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Proceeds will benefit the Ministry Infrastructure Fund. Donations of homemade goods welcomed. Items sought include: blankets, baked goods, canned sauces, Christmas decor, baby and children's items, and kitchen wares. BCMS runner wins individual state title.

BCMS runner wins individual state title.

Luke Churchwell, an eighth grade member of the Bleckley County Middle School boys cross country team, placed first overall in the small school division of the Georgia Middle School State Cross Country Championships held Saturday in Cochran.  The boys team finished second.

Special events part of Friday's BCHS home football game versus Dublin.

It will be a busy night at Royal Stadium September 28 when Bleckley hosts Dublin.  Cochran Bleckley Rec. Department football players and cheerleaders will be recognized before the game for Youth Football Night.  It will also be Cancer Awareness Night sponsored by BCHS HOSA.  Activities include face painting and a cake raffle with proceeds to benefit a local family dealing with cancer.  Survivors and family members of those who lost somoene to the disease are invited to line up near the player's entrance tunnel at 7:15 pm to release baloons into the air.

Cochran church collecting item donations for victims of Hurricane Florence.

Mt. Calvary Baptist Church is collecting donations to help the victims of Hurricane Florence. The following items are needed. Diapers, Wipes, Feminine, Hygiene Products, Pacifiers, First Aid Kits, Toiletries, Insect Repellent,, Packs of new socks, Solar powered battery packs, Fans, Hammers, Pry bars, Shovels, Heavy duty trash bags, Dawn dishwashing liquid. Items can be dropped off at the church office, 134 Abney Road from 8 am-noon on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday, all day on Wednesdays. Call the church at (478)934-0810 for more information.
