Cochran community blood drive December 4.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive December 4 from 2-7 pm in the Bleckley County Extension Office main building, 165 E Peacock St.  To schedule an appointment online, visit redcrossblood.org, and use the sponsor code "Bleckley."

BCHS CTSO canned food drive will feed families in community.

Bleckley County High School Career Technical Student Organizations HOSA, FBLA, FFA, FCCLA, and WBL are once again doing the "Parade Pantry" to collect food for families in the commuity.  They are asking people to bring canned, non-perishible food items to this year's Christmas parade.  Members will be pushing lighted shopping carts for donations.  

This year's parade will be December 1 at 7 pm and will run through the campus of Middle Georgia State University.

Pilot Club Lite-a-Lite will benefit scholarships for BCHS students.

The Pilot Club of Cochran is currently selling lights for the annual Lighting of the Christmas tree ceremony that will take place December 1 at 6 pm in front of the Chamber of Commerce on Second Street. Cost is $1 and can be purchased in honor or memory of someone. Proceeds will be used to fund scholarships for 3-5 Bleckley County High School Seniors. Checks, made payable to Pilot Club of Cochran, along with forms,  can be mailed to, Pilot Club of Cochran, PO Box 814, Cochran, GA 31014 before December 1

Church opening food bank to local residents November 17.

Faith Temple Precious Faith Ministries will open their food bank to local residents November 17 from 4-5 pm.  For more information, call Sherri Ligon, (478)298-2844.  The church is located at 383 GA 87 in Cochran.

Local travel team Crush works out with Middle Georgia State softball.

Local travel team Crush works out with Middle Georgia State softball.

Crush 04 recently changed their name to Middle GA Crush 04 to help differentiate themselves from numerous travel softbal teams with the name "Crush."  This week, players got some valuable experience, working out for three nights with the Middle Georgia State Knights softball team.  "It was a great experience for our girls," said head coach Kevin Wimberly.  The team will be in action Saturday at the USSSA Cordele Slam.
