Faith Temple opening food bank to local residents July 16.

Faith Temple Precious Faith Ministries will open their food bank for local residents July 16 from 3 to 4 pm.  For more information, call (478)298-2844.  The church is located at 383 GA-87 in Cochran.

Donations of supplies sought for August 2 Back to School Bash.

A community Back to School bash will be held August 2 at Eastgate Plaza in Cochran.  School supplies for all students will be given out at the event. To find out what's needed and how you can help, click here.

Changes this week because of July 4.

A quick reminder of changes in Cochran and Bleckley County this week due to the July 4 holiday.  All city and county offices will be closed.  No mail, banks will be closed.  The Cochran-Bleckley Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Authority announced previously their offices would be closed July 4 and 5.

Beta Club Show Choir wins national title.

Beta Club Show Choir wins national title.

The Bleckley County High School Beta Club Show Choir finished first at the national convention held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  They made top five after a first performance Friday, and finished first following a performance Saturday morning.

Turner Chapel AME Church holding "gospel explosion" June 30.

Turner Chapel AME Church located at 163 N Seventh Street in Cochran will hold a gospel explosion event June 30 at 5 pm.  Featuring local and area performers, it's also a fundraiser for the church building fund.  Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.  Admission includes entry into a raffle for a 32-inch flat screen TV.  Refreshments served.  Purchase tickets by calling (478)397-4797.

Church helps feed football players physically and spiritually.

Bleckley County High School football hosted OTA's Wednesday with several other schools.  That night, First Baptist Church held an outdoor event for the players and coaches.  Pizza, bottled water, plenty of snacks.  Plus, an FCA event was held featuring the church praise band as well as two guest speakers.
