Cochran residents brave the weather to honor the dream.
Temperatures below 50 degrees didn't prevent Dr. Martin Luther King from being honored Monday afternoon. There was the annual parade featuring churches and other community groups. It was followed by a program at House of Grace where the NAACP Youth Choir performed and guest speaker Rev. Randy Paschal, Pastor of Calvary Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Irwinton, delivered a message entitled "Don't let the dream die.

Cornhole tournament will benefit youth trip to ministry event.

House of Grace church, located at 133 Jac Arts Road in Cochran, will hold a cornhole tournament Feburary 2 at 10 am.  Cost is $20 per team.  Tournament will be double elimination (first to 21.)  Winning team will receive $100.  Proceeds will benefit the Impact Student Ministry trip to Belive conference in March.  Register online by clicking here.

Special recognition part of busy night at BCHS gym.

There was lots going on at the Bleckley County High School gym Friday night.  Basketball games against Washington County, special recognition of Nykeem Farrow for scoring his 1,000th career point Tuesday at Dublin, as well as crowning the 2019 Miss Sweetheart.

People discuss downtown Cochran.

The city of Cochran hosted a second public hearing on their urban redevelopment plan Thursday afternoon at the community house.  A variety of concerns were expressed, and suggestions made.  To read more, click here.

City of Cochran holding writing contest as part of 150th birthday celebration.

The City of Cochran will celebrate its 150th anniversary March 17-23.  As part of the celebration, a writing contest is being held for students in grades K-12.  To read more, click here.

MGA's Moe recognized for 300 wins.

MGA's Moe recognized for 300 wins.

Middle Georgia State men's head basketball coach Scott Moe won his 300th career game in November, a double overtime victory at College of Coastal Georgia.  Thursday night, he was presented with a plaque honoring hm for that achievement during the first media time out of the Knights home game versus University of Mobile.

Cochran Martin Luther King Day parade January 21.

The Martin Luther King Day Parade, sponsored by Bleckley NAACP, will be January 21 at 1 pm. Lineup is at 11:30 am at Middle Georgia State University in the Gateway Parking Lot.
