BCHS senior raising funds for mission trip.

Bleckley County High School senior Lindsay Thompson will be spending nine months in Costa Rica after graduating as part of the Global Adventure Pursuit Program. Thompson will be engaging in mission work, learning other cultures, as well as engaging in Biblical studies. To donate, go here.

Cochran church to offer 12-step recovery program.

Cornerstone Church of Cochran already offers Celebrate Recovery, a weekly support group for people with "hangups and habits." On January 4, a new 12-step program will begin. It's separate from Celebrate Recovery but is for anyone needing a 12-step approach to issues including substance abuse and grief.  Meetings start at 7 pm and will be held at the church, 106 W Dykes St. For more information, call Kace Jarrell, (478)230-2538.

A reception was held honoring Dianne Brown Thursday.  After 34 years as Clerk of Superior Court, she chose not to run for re-election.  Brown was the longest serviing elected public official in Bleckley County history.

Santa coming to the Cochran Library December 14.

Santa Claus will be at the Tessie W. Norris/Cochran Bleckley Library December 14 at 10 am.  His appearance is presented by the Bleckley County Retired Educators.

Cornerstone Church of Cochran has opened a food bank ministry called the Cornerstone Love Center.  It's appointment based and will provide food to people in need.  To learn more, call coordinator Marsha Hartley, (478)867-3351.

Church ministry fish fry will help pay for local family's Christmas.

First Baptist Church of Cochran's Brotherhood Outdoor Ministry will hold a fish fry on December 11 following the 11 am service.  Cost is donation only for plates that include fish, hush puppies, fries, and cole slaw.  Proceeds wlll go toward paying for the Christmas of a local family in need.  Plates available until 2 pm or all items gone.   First Baptist is located 101 S. Second Street.

Concert will benefit local woman's kidney transplant fund.

A concert benefitting the Wilene Foster Kidney Transplant Fund will be held December 11 at 3 pm inside Russell Auditorium on the Cochran campus of Middle Georgia State University.  It will feature former students as well as colleagues in the professional music field of Wilene and her late husband, Louis.  Tickets are $20 each.  Donations can be made now at Citzens Bank and Trust, 127 Second Street SE.
