Book sale will benefit church ministry infrastructure fund.

First Baptist Church will hold a book sale September 8 and 15 at their Senior Center, 109 SE Second Street in Cochran, located near the playground from 10 am-2 pm. Authors include Billy Graham, David Jeremiah, Karen Kingsbury, Jan Karon, Francine Rivers, John Grisham, Colleen Coble, and more. Cost is $1.00 for hardcover, $.50 for paperbacks. Proceeds will benefit the church ministry infrastructure fund.

Former BCHS football players in action this weekend.

Golf tournament will benefit church youth missions.

The Jimmy Hill Memorial Golf Tournament will be September 15 at the Woods Golf Course, 421 Mac Thompson Road in Cochran. Cost is $10 per person. Hot dogs with all the trimmings served at 4:30 pm. Church opening food bank to local residents tomorrow.

Faith Temple Precious Faith Ministries will open their food bank to local residents tomorrow from 3:30-4:30 pm. Contact Sherri Ligon, (478)298-2844, for more information. The church is located at 383 GA 87 in Cochran.

The American Red Cross held a blood drive Monday afternoon in the main building of the county extension office. A surge of donors in the final hour lifted what was described as a very slow day for donations. Organizers say there’s always a need for blood, including now with hurricane season in full swing. The next blood drive will be October 8.

Clay shoot will benefit local man battling cancer.

Some friends who are "Pulling for Barry" have organized a benefit clay shoot that will be held August 25 at 325 Rebie Road in Cochran.  Cost is $80.  Registration is at 8 am, shooting from 9 am-3 pm.  Participants asked to bring their own safety glasses, ear protection, and ammo for 100 rounds.  Ammo should be 7 1/2 shot or smaller, 11/8 loads or smaller.  Meal ticket, water, and snacks will be provided.
