CGTC Standout and Former Bleckley County Royal named GCAA player of the week | Schools
MACON, Ga. - Central Georgia Tech's Brentine Taylor picked up the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week following performances over the past seven days, announced Monday by the league office.
Taylor averaged 18 points on the week, which included a 27-point, 14 rebound effort against Georgia Perimeter College on a efficient 12-of-24 from the field and 3-of-3 from the charity stripe. The 6'6" sophomore forward is averaging 20 points and 11.5 rebounds per game on the season.
The former Bleckley County Royal, has helped the CGTC Titans to a current 9-3 (2-2) record thus far on the season. Upon hearing about his winning the award this week Taylor said, "It is a great honor and privilege to win this award, but it is my goal to help lead this team to a conference title and play my role." Taylor is currently 4th in the GCAA in scoring and 2nd in the conference in rebounding, while shooting 55 percent from the field.
The CGTC Titans will be on the road tonight versus South Georgia Tech (Waycross, GA) who leads the GCAA with a 12-2 (3-1) record. The CGTC Titans can pull into a tie for 2nd in the conference with a win tonight over the Jets. Game tip-off is at 7:00PM.
